I listened to this once when it leaked, and now finally again when it's proper out and yea I really really like it. I'm starting to grab onto more songs and little nuances which is super nice.

I'm basically here too. I love all their albums regardless and it wasn't until I joined AP where I even started considering ranking their albums. OLG always been on top for me though haha

I definitely don't mean I don't get having OLG at top, or VW at bottom (if my post came across like that). I more just mean I don't get seeing OLG as like, light years ahead of everything else. Or VW as shit-tier. Idk if anything I say makes sense. Haha I'm sorry chorus people

Circa Survive is one of those bands where somebody could say any one of their albums is their favorite and I would understand. Well, except for Violent Waves. Somebody's gotta convince me there. The others, minus The Amulet (it just came out), absolutely.

For a long time it's been juturna for me, I don't think I'll ever forget that album. Finding the singles for it on... gulp... purevolume before it came out and it taking a minute for me to realize it was the "saosin singer"... picked up the album on release day and thought it was incredible, been hooked ever since

I think that would mess up the vibe of the record heavy, but I would love if someone proved me wrong. Good luck moving the bookending tracks though, haha

I can't believe I thought Economic Hit man was anything less than a perfect opener for years.

Wow, I guess I like Violent Waves a lot more than most people? Brother Song, Bird Sounds, Blood from a Stone and I'll Find a Way is a great closing sequence of songs imo.

Its hard to beat the combination of nostalgia + low expectations, the first record you hear from a band comes in with no expectations, and every subsequent is judged through a lens of "I love this band I hope this another great album", it becomes nearly impossible to top the first album you listen to unless they take a massive jump or something. So it happens, but I doubt this band makes an album that my brain can like more than Juturna/OLG for that reason. That said, this is a really enjoyable album, and they haven't made an album I didn't like yet.

The amulet is probably going in my top 10 favorite songs by this band.

Oh jeez how bad was It?

Yeah that sequence is almost as good as the 4 opening it.

I actually went into OLG with huge expectations from loving TTN and didn't initially like it very much, it took me a while to love it as much as I do now.

I find it hard to pick a favourite from this album since I just really enjoy listening through as a whole. I mainly notice specific parts of songs I love or the songs that I'm not as into. I think the outro in Tunnel Vision is my favourite moment right now.

I didn't hear TTN until after and I've never liked it

Ttn is classic ans flawless and perfectly aged, but Mookie's is the best Saosin song

I don't know if this band will ever release an album that I like more than OLG, but after 6 "great" to "holy fuck" albums, I trust that anytime they are putting out an album I will love it and it will be among the best of the year. They've definitely earned my full trust. They did a long time ago.

Gimme light, gimme love, gimme fire

Gonna give a hot take here: this might be my favorite Circa album or at the very least the album I've wanted to hear from them.

The only album of theirs to truly grab me is BSN because it has hooks and choruses. It played to a more pop mindset and I appreciated that. The Amulet has that but also has far more interesting instrumentation and Anthony's vocals have never been smoother and adventurous. It's like BSN but more of what Circa "does" without going full psychedelia/stream of conscious like their early work.
