I didn't have a connection with it on my first listen, though I usually don't with this band. So I'll just keep listening.
Just finished my first listen. Stay was far and away my favorite on first listen, followed by flesh and bone, Lustration, and amulet. Liked the music more than descensus but the Vocals didn’t do much for me, nothing too memorable.
Got this downloaded on spotify but honestly not sure I've got a chance to listen properly today. Godammit.
The outro to At Night is really unbelievable. Also really liking Tunnel Vision, and Premonition is growing on me, so groovy. Side note, the back cover I think would have made a better cover and fit the music better I think.
Ohh found it fuck that's scary and awesome. Why tf isn't that the art? I'm making that the album art on mine now
I am honestly not sure how to feel about this album yet. A lot of the songs are too busy where everything is blending together. Maybe I need to listen to it on a different set up, but the guitars and vocals just get lost within each other. I don't know if that's the production or just the song writing. Because of that, Flesh and bone might be my favorite so far because it's a quiet moment within such an intense album and the only song with breathing room. This will definitely need repeated listens before I can form an overal opinion.
Yeah, Circa has always been that way to an extent, but I feel like it applies to this album more than others. Just give it 3-4 listens and let the songs start setting themselves apart before making too much judgment.
this was really immediate for me btw but taste dictates a lot of that obviously Lustration and Rites weren't immediate for me though but they're really pretty different than the rest of the album
Rites kind of feels like an outro turned into a whole song, and it works better for me in the album context than as a single.
I think it needs a listen with good headphones. That's what got me so in love with them in the first place. Juturna is mixed superbly, I absolutely love the dueling guitars and how each track is almost solely in one channel. I used to take 1 ear out and listen to each song twice so I could pick apart the 2 riffs. I can't tell how this album is mixed in my car/on my work speakers.
Agree on the latter. I mean it's still probably weakest for me but I've grown to "like" the song esp because the rest of the album doesn't sound like it or use the 'big rockin bridge' trope
This is going to be a stupid post but it tripped me out when I realized the 2 albums I looked forward to the most today (Killers, Circa Survive) both had the same shell on the cover
After one listen the songs kind of blend together and nothing really stood out. Definitely will have to listen more.
I love the album art and I'm really glad it's that instead of the back picture. That would've seemed out of place in their discog album covers.
