I really do. Like these melodies and how it breathes and grooves a lot more. Any one BSN song for me has parts I like and then other parts I don't.
I've only heard this twice now, I'd say BSN has much higher highs, but this is really solid throughout, feels like a very put together vibe of an album as opposed to groupings of songs pieced together. But I need way more time with it.
I remember of Anthony's interview, that he said that the previous circa is dead, all was so much saturated, and about their necessity of rebirth the band, and they maked something around what they really are, in this new album... Maybe previously, they followed a conturbed direction...and now they show the real evolution that they wanted... i don't know Fact is that now, they are, as a band, much more mellow.
like for the band or music or humanity? I never really liked the opener that much do I have to bring out that big chart I made
If you plug your ears during I Felt Free and Imaginary Enemy, BSN doesn't really have what I'd consider to be filler. I may not completely love all the styles that record takes on, but they're done well, at least. Whereas here, the style is awesome on paper... but there are passages that feel like filler sprinkled around the record. The second half of "Lustration" is a prime example... it just goes nowhere. The title track honestly feels that way to me too.
Dyed in the Wool is their discogs second weakest closer. It might be better than Descensus idk not that it's weak but competitions pretty strong Strange Terrain probably sits similarly Incognito can pull up the chart again tbh
Ehh, Dyed In The Wool is one of my favorite songs by the band and probably my second favorite closer.
BSN is easily their worst but Dyed in the Wool is one of their best songs and gives me a warmth inside like none other. And I remember thinking their first two albums were a little too meandering and I didn't fully "get them" until BSN came out, and hearing Strange Terrain for the first time really hit me hard. let's see dat chart
Easily their worst. My least favorite. 5th-6th best depending on how I feel on Sept. 22. A good album, yeah, but their worst, by far.
Me too... i remeber for the firt time i listened... i was expecting some totally different, based in production process videos that they were realeasing...
I watched those lp3 production videos like crazy back in the day brother. Then on first listen to the album it was like wowitsnothing.jpg to my 20 year old ears.
There is a song in this videos, that they never released...and always i expected for something... maybe it appears in 10th anniversary edition, as a demo... Bird sounds was in these videos, and it appears in VW
Try this shit out: 1. Sleep Underground 2. Strange Terrain 3. Get Out 4. Glass Arrows 5. Through the Desert 6. Fever Dreams 7. Spirit of the Stairwell 8. Everyway 9. Stare Like 10. Lazarus 11. Compendium 12. Dyed in the Wool. I switch some of the 6-8 around every now and then but just TRY AND TELL ME 9 THRU 12 IS NOT A PERFECT LISTENING EXPERIENCE
I was thinking I love every record this band has put out but I don't consider them one of my favorite bands. Which is sort of weird
Getting rid of The Longest Mile and Frozen Creek is a crime. I also adore Lazarus but think it'd feel weird tacked onto the album like that.
Yes, maybe it helps .... for me, there are incredible songs in this list, but some songs breaks the harmony ... personal liking ...
I know the one! I prob still know those vids by heart. And Through the Deserts awesome verse was drawn out and better. It felt like they wrote the album, ripped it apart, and rewrote it again 2 or 3 times based on the differences from the production teaser vids.
