I agree that The Amulet is their best. Pretty insane how consistently good this band is and how they get even better. OLG is dope too.
I fell in love with OLG right away when it came out and listened to it nonstop, but it's strange how you almost never recognize true greatness until something ages. "One of the best rock albums of all time" would've seemed too strong, probably, even a year after release. Now it seems hard to argue with. Best Circa release, possibly the best release in this genre (however you might define that), and one of the best of post-90s rock.
I need to do a discog run for this band soon, been on a big break from them but they are definitely one of my favorite bands. I just watched eternal sunshine of a spotless mind and it made me want to throw on Juturna so that will happen soon.
I did Juturna and OLG on Monday while slogging thru emails. Both are still very good. Think OLG is stronger front to back. But I will most likely flop on that 1000 times.
I have too much nostalgia with OLG to say whether or not The Amulet is better, but those are the two in my top tier Circa albums.
Amulet IS a really really great album At Night it Gets Worse is one of their very best songs I know that
Every album is so damn good that it's near impossible for me to pick. Except VW. That's at the bottom. lol
Are we ranking again? Top Tier: On Letting Go The Amulet Still Incredible: Blue Sky Noise Juturna Pretty good: Descensus Not great, but a few bangers: Violent Waves
Swap Amulet with Juturna, rename the second list to "Really Good/Great," and I'm down. Gah, I wish I saw in The Amulet what a lot of you do. It's fantastic for this point in their career, yet still can't hold a candle to the OG records. The intensity and passion of their early high points like Living Together, Your Friends Are Gone, or In Fear and Faith... idk, I'm just not sure those highs will ever be matched again. But again, it's a great record nonetheless.
$15 for lawn seats at Disrupt festival in Chula Vista for any SoCal peeps https://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-lnc-disrupt-festival-san-diego-2019
I could get $15 lawn seats for Detroit but is that even worth it? To see Circa play for what, 45 minutes? The only other band I’m remotely interested in watching is Thrice.
2 and a half hours away, ha. BUT it would also allow me to see my sister who lives 5 minutes from the venue
I’m sorta in the same boat haha. I don’t wanna drive two hours to San Diego but it would mean seeing my sister and niece
