Just so into this band right now! They mean a lot to me and definitely one of the bands I’ve followed for the longest time

the remaster doesnt fix everything about the original that was whack, but it definitely sounds much better and has way more clarity across the entire frequency spectrum.

 

Some of the clipping seems gone too?

 

Some of it’s still there though but yeah less of that nasty digital distortion happening

 

is the I Felt Free cymbal clip gone? Lol

 

I didn’t notice it ha, on the vinyl I really didn’t notice much clipping at all, def one of my best sounding records too

 

Saw this person’s collection on reddit and thought it was pretty damn impressive

 

Wow. I can’t even imagine what all that cost them.

 

Looks like the remaster of BSN is now on streaming services, not sure when that happened but I noticed they replaced the original album with it.

Oh dang haha, must’ve missed it. But yeah, very cool.

 

Checked out the digital version of the BSN remaster today and I'm super disappointed. It sounds like a few very subtle EQ tweaks and little else. Loudness is about the same, even if some of the edge is taken off the harshness of the clipping.

It should've been a slam dunk to remaster this LP and get audiophiles/vinyl owners excited about it. BSN was clearly recorded well and without clipping, judging by the stems that are available. A competent remix+remaster likely could've made this sound like a whole new record, but we'll never know now. Guess the cost-benefit analysis didn't justify taking it seriously.

 

I mean I suspect in reality it's only a very small percentage of listeners who actually care that much.

I’m def not missing their Charlotte date now.


Not really worried that they’re splitting up or anything, I just know Anthony needs rest and I’m sure the same goes for the rest of the band. I imagine they’ll be back to do a 10 year for BSN in 2020 at the latest.

 

That and Saosin are working on a new album so Anthony will need a break at some point.
