The song the amulet is mind blowing ! I really feel like it’s their best work , but it did take a while for whole album to grow on me
I feel like The Amulet is so smooth as a whole. It's just easy to listen through and enjoyable. I like Descensus, but it is absolutely exhausting to listen to.
Loathe violent waves, love descensus. lol, violent waves came out at a time where I was drifting away from Circa as a whole and it seems so uninspired and slow. Last two albums have been great but I feel like that is Circa's certified stinker.
Violent Waves has some good highs, but it gets downright boring at points, more so than any other Circa record.
Just got my BSN remaster - trying to figure out if I just want to listen or do a track by track comparison Listening to Spirit of the Stairwell and the non lead guitar parts definitely sound turned up. Which I LOVE
One listen with my HD1 Sennheisers and I can confidently say this is so much better. Backing vocals are "echoed" properly AG's mix is way less tinny Backing guitar is distinguishable and I heard a part in Through the Desert i'd never been able to actually make out... Drums have more bass Volume picks up correctly during the bridges Frozen creek still isn't as good as the Live version... Love this remaster so far
That's very true. I was going to listen to Descensus the other day, but then decided to put on Turnover instead. Less demanding haha
Maybe they were short on time or money or some other reason when they first recorded the album. Isn't BSN their major label debut? Maybe the label wanted something different who knows.
So this is my guess but @sophos34 would know best. The original remaster was way too loud and compressed by the label wanted a master that would sound great on radio. It was a major label record and they were going to try to push it to the masses. Years later this band now has control over it and probably had to remaster for the vinyl anyway. They probably realized the vinyl master sounded great and that it would be good for their fans to experience the album that way since not all fans are going to have a record player. This gives everyone an opportunity to hear it this way.
