wonder if we'll get some more aggressive cuts on this record. im more into heavier/rocking circa but if its a more laid back spacier record with some heavier moments as bridges or something id be fine with that.
btw was circaboards dissolved or something? that site was always pretty cool but its not showing up for me when i search
Yeah for me it's been basically non functional for the last year and a half maybe longer. The header says the site was hacked or something weird like that too.
thats a shame. i never really posted there but i always loved checking in when a new album cycle started just because the energy and excitement was contagious and electric, plus there were some great posts in there dissecting lyrics and album connections and all that jazz
Based on the reviews it looks like you only get the standard album on vinyl and the bonus tracks/demos are just downloads
There was one user in particular that seemed to know every single detail about the band and shared tons of demos, live footage, rare stuff, etc. It's a big shame circaboard is no longer available.
WAIT. So apparently that link I shared earlier is for the standard black pressing. It's just listed wrong. SORRY
I feel like the circaboard tumblr is decently active. Kinda stream Of consciousness though so takes a bit more sifting to find what you want.
those were my fake accou....i mean those were very upset users like me but they were definitely not me
yeah its more like someones social media platform and less a forum but w/e its still cool that someones running it and is still so devoted to the band. the Circa Survive subreddit is pretty cool too
So about this new jam... love it, but I feel like it peaks in the first 45 seconds, haha. Was definitely expecting more of a climax toward the end on the first listen. I'm sure it'll work much better in context than alone. But really, who cares... Juturna/OLG-era crooning Anthony is back, that's what matters.
It does kind of hit a peak early on but it's not necessarily a bad thing it just sort of mellows out for the bridge and it works
Okay so Living Together is definitely my favorite opener, but I think Birth of the Economic Hitman is solid number two.
The chorus and bridge of Holding Someone's Hair Back are amazing and massive. I'd put it right after Living Together.
what does everyone think their best single is? medicine got me into the band and remains one of my favorite songs by them but in fear and faith is pretty close as is get out
Circa Survive always has had perfect opening tracks, so I don't know if I could rank them. haha Holding Someone's Hair back does such a good job setting the tone and atmosphere of Juturna, and has one of my favorite Circa Survive choruses. Living Together sounds so massive, and hearing it live put it on a whole other level for me. Strange Terrain has some of my favorite atmospheric stuff of any of their songs, it feels like entering some dream state (that's probably corny as hell, but whatever. I'm from Nebraska so it's in my blood). Birth of the Economic Hitman probably succeeds more than any of them at setting the tone of it's respective record. It's long, but it never feels boring. And then Schema is just a fucking crazy song, and is one of those songs that doesn't seem the most logical choice to open the record, but it just feels right.
best single has gotta be In Fear and Faith idk if Greatest Lie was considered a single for OLG or not
I honestly think their best single might be Get Out. That song is perfect and is easily the one I'd show to someone I was trying to get into the band. In Fear and Faith would probably be my second pick.
