Late last year, Philadelphia's Circa Survivereleased A Dream About Love, an atmospheric, electronic-leaning EP that BrooklynVegan called "one of the band's most drastic departures yet." It came as a result of a band
entering their 17th year together amid global upheaval and personal renaissance, forcing its members to find new ways to challenge themselves and stay true all at the same time.

Today, Circa Survive announces A Dream About Death, a second EP of all-new boundary-pushing music from the beloved alt-prog/post-hardcore giants. It'll be out everywhere on February 4, but today the band has shared its powerful opening track, "Electric Moose. It kicks off a whole new era for Circa Survive: one that's more bold, avant-garde, and honest than ever.

"Electric Moose" is also one of vocalist Anthony Green's favorites on the EP.
"I really love this song," Green explains. "It actually came together after we were finished the writing process. The other songs were sent off to mastering already. This one came together very organically and we loved it so much we had to include it. "

The lyrics for "Electric Moose" actually started out as a poem that he wrote about domestic abuse, and someone trapped in a relationship but trying to hold onto the thought of how it was before things became violent. Its video, directed by Katherine White, follows a similar story, utilizing an intense dance performance to capture the sentiment behind the song.

Love that this band keeps going and going. Electric Moose is pretty good. Dark lyrical content but chill song. Always checking out a new Circa EP

I love that they are exploring different sounds but I wonder if everyone in the band agrees with this new direction. Anthony seems very excited about it, but the rest of them hasn't even posted about it

The music video was absolutely wild for Electric Moose. I've never managed to get in to Circa Survive as a regular rotation, but will always take the opportunity to see them live when they pass through. Their live shows are so intense.

    D'oh! Prestigious

Lots of individual interviews and podcasts, where you could possibly tell everyone in the band seems to be excited to change it up a bit and switch to write on different instruments etc., and it's actually not Anthony himself who came out with the tones for those new songs - it was mostly based on Steve's work, from what I understand.

    Newbie

I just finished listening to the EP from start to finish twice and was thoroughly disappointed. Nothing stood out to me and I was bored the entire way through. I understand them wanting to try new things and switch it up but it just didn’t do anything for me. With that said I will always love Circa and Anthony and wish them nothing but the best. I just (selfishly) hope that we get another album with some more upbeat, guitar driven tunes.
