Hands down the best skyline. Threw up on the outside of that building once due to substances. Memories.
from my extensive research, the Ludlow location does indeed seem to be the consensus best Skyline. I will for sure be hitting that one up.
How many of these things are silly tourist things? I'm gonna be in the city for less than 48 hours lol moerlein lager house fountain square ghost baby Uncle Leo’s krohn conservatory mt. adams findlay market taft's ale house maplewood - brunch? Nicholson’s Fine Food & Whiskey jungle jims cosmic gorilla woodburn games last two are because I'm a nerd
Fountain square just to stop by is kinda just a normal downtown square unless you’re going down for a specific event. Other than that, good list imo. I think there’s better brunch spots than Maplewood, but I moved away a few years ago and am not certain what’s still open or not. I’ll say Jungle Jim’s is fun in like a “what a goofy spot” way, but they do have a bunch of good produce and stuff. Go to the original one in Fairfield, not the one on the east side IMO. A photo of me with my little league basketball team is hung up on the wall there somewhere.
I hardly go to Maplewood for brunch but still think its good. Yuca, Sacred Beast and Hang Over Easy are probably my favorites. Bad news about Taft's Ale House. It closed down in November. They have the Brewporium in St Bernard open still though. Same beer, but the menu focuses on pizza. Have to check out The Pony and Longfellow if you have time as well. Both have great food, drinks and atmospheres. Rest looks good imo. If you're more into touristy things, I'd suggest Union Terminal and the Sign Museum.
So my time was brief but I had a lot of fun! We got in Tuesday and checked into the hotel. That night dinner was had at the Clifton/Ludlow Skyline. We then went to a boardgame store (Woodburn Games) and wandered into a sports bar called Rhinehaus where they were doing trivia. I grabbed the first of many Cincy Lights on the trip. I went to Nicholson's afterwards by myself and had some scotch then called it a night. Wednesday I spent like an hour in the Ohio Book Store being overwhelmed at how big it was. I then went to Burnet Woods for an hour or so to get some birdwatching in (don't laugh) then took an Uber to Lola's Coffee downtown. After that I walked around the waterfront and stadiums for awhile just taking in the sights. Dinner was had at E&O and then we chilled for a little bit in the hotel. After that, we went to Ghost Baby for live jazz (an extremely cool underground venue). My brother-in-law turned in after that, but I decided for my last night in the city (and last night without wife/kid) I'd stay out a bit. I went to a few dive bars downtown (Madonna's and Knockback Nat's) where more Cincy Lights were had and I conversed with the locals. Turned in around 1:30 AM, which was a silly idea. Friday I had my final Skyline meal and then we headed to the airport, where Skyline cans were purchased for the road. Overall, a really cool experience. I wasn't there for very long and didn't get outside of downtown much but I liked what I saw. Lots of cool murals downtown, and people seem friendly enough. Would return for more than 2 days for sure.
Sounds like a great trip! Rhinehaus is the soccer bar for LFC supporters so I'm there at least once a week, also drinking Cincy Lights. I love it and the bartenders and regulars are all pretty cool. I also like that it's surrounded by great food options like Gomez and Allez.
