This thread is gonna get me to go back to Shrines for the first time in a while, and for that, I thank you all.
I only started listening to Purity Ring earlier this year, but since then I've only really wanted to go back to Shrines. It's more interesting than Another Eternity, which I think is kinda forgettable now that I think about it.
Might be a coincidence, but I'm just noticing a reprise of chords in the bridge of Make Them Gold (around 2:19) and then Down Side Of Me (0:28 and louder at 1:47). (if you're really bored) Edit: and again in High Enough, 0:32 !
Likely a coincidence. No doubt that they intentionally used that progression (ii I V, I think) very deliberately in each place, but I doubt they were all meant to tie together thematically. You can probably find quite a few progressions they use multiple times throughout their songs, they keep things relatively diatonic, so there's only so many progressions you can do. I feel like this particular progression is probably one of their "go-to's", good catch!
I think the videos are private for now, but they were in the Live Lounge and performed Bury It and covered "This Is What You Came For"
That cover isn't great, unfortunately. (Coming from someone who would fight to the death in defense of their version of "Do I Wanna Know" as one of the greatest covers of all time.)

I'll go about a week in between binge listening to this band. I've shifted a lot in my tastes the past few years, and chvrches is definitely my favorite part of that shift
"Now Is Not The Time" still blows my mind. I hope LP3 has some choruses with Lauren & Martin trading vocals like that.
I'm not sure how to interpret this tweet...either they started writing yesterday or a while ago, depending on when she 'got home'.
Who's this Dave character ? I was kinda hoping they stuck to self producing in their own studio again, but maybe they felt the need for some inspiration. Edit: whoa, from The Eurythmics ?!
