Just released. Very reminiscent of their earlier stuff, in comparison to the other two. All three singles are very different, in my opinion.
Another bop. The chorus sounds like another song though and I’m not sure what but it’s driving me nuts
It's fine but nothing really wowing me. I unfortunately don't have high hopes for this record. They may just lose me with this one
I’m never ever ever the guy who has the album early. but now I am, and I can’t hold back dammit! I’ve probably listened to this 20 times in the last couple days. I am hooked. It’s fucking great. No skips. the opening track is pure bones/ early era chvrches. Y’all are gonna love it. Nightmares is a goth dream and possibly my new favorite chvrches song. The bass in the chorus HITS. Final girl is a delight. The closer is chill and emo and beautiful. Band is just on their absolute A game here. edit: also , no Martin songs . He does a bit in violent delights but not much.
I’ve been out of the loop on this one but i listened to the three tracks and they’re all amazing. He said she said is like my favorite chvrches song already
I feel silly but I added spoilers, it's getting harder to hold back. This is my favorite album since their debut, which so far has been their only release that stayed on my rotation for a long time afterwards. Like many, I was disappointed by Love Is Dead and only revisit half of it. Unpopular opinion but outside of the clear standouts, I don't even like Every Open Eye that much when I think about it. I remember when it came out and thought it felt too much like a redux of Bones with more upbeat and overtly poppy moments, leaving me with a feeling that they would be the kind of band to put out the same stuff over and over again with diminishing returns. But this one finally sees them switching things up a bit and it's safe to say the band brought me back on board for good. A strong surprise considering the only pre-release single that raised my low expectations was How Not To Drown. I haven't revisited their discography recently so I may be wrong, but to my ears it feels like it's the most guitars / bass / live drums driven they've ever been. There's some strong 90s jangle-y pop/rock influences here and there that I wasn't expecting at all.
