I've never been the biggest fan of Martin's songs on Chvrches albums but he has grown on me as he's learned to write for his register just like how he learned how to write for Lauren's. That's why he had songs on the first three albums - he wasn't writing everything for her range.
I admit to often being a Martin-skipper. But it's not really his voice, though that's unremarkable, but it also seems like he only got to put his voice on the less interesting songs. Besides not being interested by his voice, the tracks he was on also musically were not my favorite.
Given what I just said, this is a really nice change. It's much more dynamic, and less of his CHVRCHES "3 minutes of Martin moaning and mumbling" delivery.
they've seemingly all been talking about it like it's their best material, and i'm inclined to believe them
I’ve really lost track of just how many years it’s been, dang. They left off with what’s easily my favorite album of theirs, and I found a lot to enjoy in Lauren’s solo release (though I don’t think I really spent that much time with it), so I’m hopeful they’ll return with a real bang.
yeah screen violence dropped summer of 2021 then like three months later in the fall they released the directors cut with the three new extra songs. and then in 2023 they released 'over' which might' been a leftover song, i honestly don't remember, but i do remember listening to it a lot that year and then haven't revisited it since. in other words chvrches have never missed for me
Revisited Bones sometime last month and I'm gonna go through the rest of the discography later at some point (will also give Lauren's solo album a listen). Really digging The Leaving a lot (but I've also never had an issue with Martin's songs) and I'm hopeful that the next one is great.
