Is she a 'nasally' singer? Idk. To me Jordon Pundik is that archetypal nasally singer (even though I enjoy NFG). Lauren has a really good voice in my opinion.
I’m not sure nasally is what I’d personally say - but it is high pitched. Either way I’m giving it a first real run through now. That first song is a doozy. The writing here seems incredibly personal - lots of good stuff.
Most people who criticise a vocalist for sounding "nasally" don't know what the hell they're talking about.
Exactly - but I understood what she was getting at regardless. Also, the back half of final girl is great
I think Lauren posted something recently about how she sometimes has to concentrate on making her singing voice less “trebley” or something to that effect. Maybe an IG story or something? Regardless, I love her voice and I love this record.
I can definitely hear the “nasal” description. It doesn’t take a musical genius to recognize it. In HSSS it verges on shrill to me. I do like her voice on pretty much every other track (havent heard the new album yet)
This might be their best album - and it might not be incredibly close. I think the opener, California and lullaby are my favorites, with the latter a run away fave atm.
Actually, He Said She Said sounds *perfect* in Dolby Atmos. This might be the first album that makes me go “ok, this is cool”.
