I adore Every Open Eye, but I'd be disappointed if they were to do another album like it. Besides, we have The Bones of What You Believe and that's plenty similar.
This song isn’t terrible, def a step up from the last record. The introduction of outside Top 40 co-writers really did them a disservice on the Love is Dead. I don’t understand why they moved away from self producing.
Man. I must be in the minority but I think Love Is Dead is great. Big songs, big production. It sounds great. And I kinda like the pop influences while it still retains some of the pieces from their early stuff…
I got into them in the Love is Dead era so I'm pretty pumped for this. Still haven't gone back and dove into the other stuff yet, though.
I think Love Is Dead is a largely good album, it just doesn’t have as many highs as the first two and some of the things they did to expand their sound don’t quite land. I’m glad they tried new things, and that they have with Screen Violence as well. This song reminds me a bit of The Bravery, Lauren Mayberry and Robert Smith’s voices and deliveries go well together, and the textures of the last 50 seconds feel so cinematic. This along with “He Said She Said” have sold me on the preorder.
I really like this new song. They are a really good pop band. Every Open Eye is my favorite album by them but all the releases have something awesome on them.
Cool, cool. I just got the vibe everyone was thinking Love Is Dead is their worst and I just don’t think that! And my original comment that Every Open Eye is their worst didn’t fully express how I feel. Every Open Eye is their worst…of three great albums! So the worst of three great albums is still pretty great!
They lost me at Love Is Dead (too much filler). This song gives me hope they’re getting back on the right track.
never really explored their music but these two singles have me stoked! will spend the weekend going through their back catalogue i think
