Am I the only one that finds this Pitchfork review kinda weird? Are we really overanalyzing a Chromeo record like this? Chromeo: Head Over Heels Album Review | Pitchfork
I don't know the answer for this. On the one hand, I can see their point with some of the lyrics. On the other hand, the band seems to be taking steps to grow (removing the mannequin legs). I'm all for listening to other voices and opinions on this.
I do see some of their qualms. But I've followed them on social media for years and they do a lot to advocate for the rights and representation of women, LGBT, and the marginalized. I think that speaks a lot louder.
my wife who loves Chromeo is not crazy about this record, nor the way the hipsters seem to be jumping on their bandwagon. I told her, I feel Capital Cities are a better band now anyway, and even with the 1st 5 songs, the new Capital Cities album already a lot more addictive.
This album is predictably great but the last 3 tracks are a masterpiece-level run. Also kudos for having the pronunciation of "Mazda Miata" be an album highlight. Can't say I ever expected to say that.
