He's such a good singer, wow. "Either Way" and "Second One To Know" are early favorites.

His voice on "Either Way".. Holy shit.

 

I've listened to "Either Way" like 30 times in the month since I got this and it still wallops me every time. What a song.

 

"I Was Wrong" just made me crack up at my desk.. Like there's no reason somebody should be able to sing that well. Christ.

 

I chuckle at "Up to No Good Living," because it seems like he's responding to the criticism of him singing a lot of songs about drinking on the last record.

 

My God "Either Way".......

 

This is so good. Feels short but that's because I did listen to the first three tracks a little more than I intended to prior to release. "Either Way" is the "Fire Away" of the album for me and might be even more powerful.

So this is interesting. Apparently every song on this record was written before Traveller came out. I wonder if Volume 2 will be the stuff he's written since that record. Either way, my head spins at how many songs this guy must have just lying around.

 

I am no country guru or pretend to know much about it but I really, really loved Traveller and this one I just don't feel the same with it. I've only given it five full listens, while I do think there are some really bright spots some of it just felt way too "safe" to me. But I am going to keep listening to it because I still think it's a good album and I'm looking forward to seeing him again this summer.

 

yeah, i get the "safe" comments, but like Craig said, all these were written pre-Traveler according to Rolling Stone.

the only "misstep" here for me is Them Stems. just seems a little silly and too on the nose to me. Love the length of the album though, much easier to digest than Traveler. i honestly usually only make it halfway through Traveler.

 

It is absolutely safe. No doubt about that.

 

I listened to it once through. Great stuff! His voice is unreal.

 

Finally seeing him tomorrow. Stoked.

 

Looks like Vol 2 is coming December 1st.

 

Ready for it.
