For some future rounds would you guys be up for doing themes maybe? Thinking of ways to keep it more fun and interesting...if that does sounds fun and interesting at all. I'm happy doing whatever lol
Yes absolutely! I actually thought about this after Aaron picked Jacob’s Ladder and then I picked Event Horizon cause they are both like, veiled hell movies. I’m in for themes
@incognitojones can have his individual pick this coming Friday and then maybe we can rotate who chooses theme for each round?
Plex wasn't working for me this weekend whenever I tried (was probably entirely a me thing), so I jumped to The Collector. It's wild that it was originally pitched as a Saw movie cause it legitimately felt like a Saw movie to me in so many parts. Even the way it was shot and the color filtering at times.
Oh wow I forgot it's Friday My pick is the 2019 Irish horror comedy Extra Ordinary, featuring great performances from Will Forte and Claudia O'Doherty. It's on Tubi so at least it's going to be very to easy to watch.
Extra Ordinary is so fun! Sorry guys, had some bad life stuff happen last week but I promise I will be reporting on Bad Ronald as soon as I get the time to catch up on it. These last two, I've seen recently and enjoy!!
Just finished Extra Ordinary. A lot of fun and the cast was great. Not sure how this one slipped by me.
Damn, I guess it's back to me! I've got a Cronenberg weekend plan, so I'm going to go with my favorite of his...The Brood. I don't know if I can really verbalize what about it resonates so much with me, and I know it's a little questionable in terms of basically being his bitter divorce movie, but I am excited to revisit it nonetheless. What should be such a silly premise winds up being truly effective once it gets the Cronenberg treatment, imo. I believe it's on Max!
I will also pop back in with my Extra Ordinary thoughts today as soon as my phone's off the charger lol, I didn't rewatch it because I've seen it within the last few months but I can definitely give my Letterboxd reaction. Super fun movie!
Okay, my notes for Extra Ordinary are that Higgins and Forte are both very funny and Astaroth(?) looks very sick for a horror-comedy villain
I thought the horror elements were really well shot, that scene with the body floating down the hallway and the whole ending are really well done, stands out in such a silly film otherwise.
Cronenberg and cozy definitely aren't synonymous, so considering this is a film about mental illness and divorce and parenting rights, I'm shocked to say this movie still feels like a warm blanket to me. So much wood paneling. So Canadian.
The Brood is very solid, but I still can't say that I love it. I was feeling it more on this watch, but I can't seem to put my finger on what it's missing for me. I hate being conflicted about this lol
It's still my favorite Cronenberg, somewhere between a 9 and a 10 for me, will post a little more about my feelings after I write my LB review
