Ah shit, yeah life is insane this month and last and I haven't been able to keep up. Out of state for my sister's wedding right now. But, this one has been on my list for a while and I've heard it's pretty light, with great Halloween atmosphere, low budget, but better than it looks like on paper. Let's do The Curse of Crom: The Legend of Halloween from 2022. Looks like it's streaming on all the free platforms Tubi, Freevee, Plex, Hoopla, etc.
I'm heading to Georgia in 2 weeks for my cousin's wedding. Hoping I can squeeze in a horror movie a day for the 3 days I'll be there lol Hell yeah, love seeing a Halloween themed pick. Haven't seen this one.
Calvaire looks really ahead of it s time, visually I mean. I honestly would peg this for something modern, not from the early 2000s (although maybe that's because we're making an effort to make films look older these days).
Personally I think we need more fucked up Christmas movies and Calvaire definitely checks that box. Looks like Terrifier 3 does as well!
Curse of Crom was pretty fun. Kinda has a nostalgic feeling to it even though it’s from 2022. Gives me 90s Disney Channel movie vibes mixed with Ernest Scared Stupid
Pretty charming low budget, entry-level horror. Great Halloween vibes. Very chaste and inoffensive and very Utah-ey. This was fun. I'm happy people are still making things like this. Will probably watch again.
Hopefully gonna finish Curse of Crom tonight. I am enjoying it and how DCOM/family friendly it is. Reminds me of a lot of the stuff that was on around Halloween when I was growing up at home. Charming is definitely a good word for it. Also Harvey is legitimately funny
Would love to throw this on tonight if I can, lots going on with the nesting process and doing stuff around the house for my wife but I will catch up, even if I'm a couple of days late like I was with Calvaire
Oooooh. Catching up on Gore-Us this weekend, so that sounds like a good two-fer. @incognitojones today
I'm picking the eternally underrated Jennifer's Body. A real classic for Halloween. It's on Hulu and Paramount and Peacock and I think a few more.
Just watched last week so for once I'm ahead of the game. This is a movie I feel like I "get" more and more each time I watch.
Yeah, just watched recently and it's held up SHOCKINGLY well. The teen horror aspect feels very of it's time, but the execution feels ahead of its time.
Yeah, Jennifer's Body is still awesome. Jennifer and Needy are iconic. Only complaints I really have about the film are the off-screen kills and the r slur is used quite a few times. I'd be so down for a sequel someday
