Probably going to step back from this thread and forum in a couple of weeks' time. Trying to settle my mental health by spending much less time online.
Wishing you nothing but happiness and better days. We’ll miss ya but we’ll be here whenever you come back.
Trying to play catchup for the last uhhhh month before Monday. Just finished the Lil Ugly Mane album and I dug it a lot. Like 10 genres colliding into a weird slacker indie album. Maybe a little loosey goosey for an hour long record but I think it works as a whole. Does remind me a little bit of some of Genesis Owusu's more laid-back stuff at times maybe?
Genesis Owusu is fkn great and def a bit similar, at least in its willingness to experiment. good call-out
I don’t wanna say too much but if any of you saw my AOTY list for 2024 and remember what my number one choice was, you can get a leg up on everyone else by checking it out now
Listened at work but spent most of the time on the phone. track 7 was cool, highlight was the beat transition on the closer
The Cindy Lee record was really enjoyable. At times extremely dissonant, but the soothing the next track. I can see it being very rewarding on repeat lessons. There’s a lot to unpack.
Diving into the Omnipotent Youth Society record. Right off the bat this thing rocks. Looking forward to this.
Yea this Omnipotent Youth Society record absolutely rules. The guitars sound so perfect. And the use of other instruments like horns and harmonica (I think I heard harmonica?) never feel forced or out stay their welcome. The highlights for me are tracks six and the closer.
if you enjoy this album, check out Return to Cookie Mountain as well. most every one of their albums are great but it was particularly hard to choose between those two
