check this great album if you haven’t before. mostly everything on this label feels like that Cindy Lee album to varying degrees IMO
Catching up. Max Creek was not my jam. But this genre really is. I often found myself enjoying the start of a song, but then growing frustrated when it refused to end. It’s not all negative though, I still appreciate the musicianship on display and I would likely enjoy this much more if I were actually watching them live in concert. I also enjoy Trippin. But overall, it’s not for me.
Cindy Lee record is interesting. Found it antagonistically shrill to begin with but its mix of gliding pop elegance and dirty ambient noise becomes rather alluring after a while. And the spoken word sample on Lucifer Stand is particularly captivating. Need multiple listens to work it out, I think.
Yeah, that spoken word clip is wild. Saw someone on Reddit speculate it was from this, but I haven't been able to find a for sure source:
I'm going with Omnipotent Youth Society's self titled album from 2010. It's a cool mix of prog, grunge, folk and blues. (They are chinese and nothing on spotify is translated, but if you search their name in english they will show up.)
This is a great fucking album. Really opened up for me around track 3 and continued to ascend until the end of the album. Fantastic blend of genres that essentially sums up to a massive rock record. It really reminded me at times of the Invisible record I posted back on page 62- El Jardin de los Presentes, even down to the frontman’s voice though obviously in a different language. If you like this album, highly rec also checking that one. Not too familiar with music from China. This knocked me on my ass. I need to listen again later this week
the instrumentation is great but the vocals kinda sound the exact same after a while. that’s my only real complaint
Relistening to Bohren & Der Club of Gore tonight (along with other actual Twin Peaks-universe songs). It’s helping me cope, in a way
Feel free to drop second choices in the recommendations thread if you’re itching to share. Need something new to listen to today
