I spent a little more time with the Against All Logic record, paying more attention instead of giving it the background treatment. To my surprise, I actually recognized quite a few tracks from years ago like Cityfade, Some Kind of Game, and Such a Bad Way. Overall, I don’t think dance is ever going to be my go to genre, but I did enjoy this one. Good sample, hypnotic beats and bass lines. Plenty to enjoy.
This is such a cool idea! I’m late to the party here but have enjoyed catching up and seeing prior recommendations and everyone’s experiences with these records. That said…how can I join?
I can do this tomorrow morning at work (it's my wedding anniversary and I'm checking my Chorus threads on mobile while my wife is in the bathroom lmao)
This is such a great album, so glad to have been introduced to it. Faves are Halloween, Monitor, and Sin in My Heart—Spellbound’s a classic too. As I said before, Voodoo Dolly sounds like a Goblin song (the band that scored Suspiria). Really excited to check out their other stuff- they remind me of a post-punk Cocteau Twins type vibe.
Early Cocteau Twins for sure. That Siouxsie inspired post-punk is prominent in their fledgling days before they were able to draw out their own sound. This record is great. On my second listen now.
Feel like I could use more Halloweeny music that's actually good. What else falls in that camp, anyone got similar recs?
have you considered bay area punk rock band A Fire Inside? for real though not at all the same wheelhouse as Siouxsie but I have inextricably tied Pixel Grip to Halloween in my head because you can absolutely play them at a spooky dance party:
This rules. I’m so bummed I didn’t listen to this before my roommates and I did our annual “get really drunk and carve pumpkins” night, I would’ve added a few of these songs to our playlist.
Yeah this record rules, closing track made me feel like I was about to have a panic attack (complimentary)
