One listen and this album has been my favourite discovery from this thread. Fantastic sprawling record. Literally no idea outstays its welcome. Feels redundant to assign it to one particular genre but it seems to me to be everything that post-rock can be and almost never is. Incredible colour and fluidity on what was clearly a limiting budget. Couldn't care less what any of the lyrics actually mean.
Their first album is really great too and worth checking out. Their live videos are fun to look up too, most are of incomprehensible quality but they almost never use microphones
my selection for this week is The Armed - Perfect Saviors. this album came out last year and has been a staple of mine ever since. not sure if I have ever witnessed a band change genres so effortlessly before either. this album means a whole lot to me and I only hope to make at least one more fan in sharing it with this group. hope you all enjoy
I listened to it once when it came out but haven't gone back since. I enjoyed it so I'm down to give it another listen for the club!
Great album, probably their most accessible sound quality wise. Still has a lot of that chaotic noise but a little more subdued.
I dug this album a lot more the second time around. Modern Vanity to Burned Mind is my favorite stretch of tracks on it. Also reminds me that I still need to listen to their first three albums. Ultrapop is probably still my favorite so far
My discovery of them was through a Pitchfork Festival live stream a couple years ago. Some of them had juggalo face paint on lol
“Everything’s Glitter” still blows me away what a song but then again you could say that about most any of them
Have only heard Ultrapop but I dig it, looking forward to listening tomorrow adding @Doomsday to the list
I will post some more thoughts about this tomorrow because my phone broke and I can't use my PC much tn but wow, I loved that record. Extremely my shit. Beautiful and chaotic in all the right ways. Favorite track was probably Patient Mind. Consider me a fan of these folks
you could say pretty much any song on this album (except maybe Liar 2 - which is still great for what it is) is your favorite and I’d understand
Really enjoyed this one, especially the jazzier elements on the closing track. I’ve heard a bit of their stuff before, but I remember it being heavier? I guess they’re just a really versatile band.
