I like their older stuff but I don't think I've heard this one before. Very cool album with a truly spectacular closing track. Reminds me a bit of Chuck Ragan's solo albums.
I have a couple in mind but won’t decide till the night before probably. murder by death rules but I haven’t really listened to much of their stuff post In Bocca Al Lupe (one of my favorite albums ever) so excited to dig into this at work tomorrow
Listened to this once around the time it came out and I liked it but it didn't hit me the way it's hitting me today. Excellent record. Favorites are My Hill, Lost River, Straight at the Sun, I Came Around, Hard World, Go to the Light, and Ghost Fields. It's all really good though lol
I thought I commented last week but I dig that Murder By Death album a lot. I think I like Bocca Al Lupo more but I’ll still throw this on time to time
Ah is it me to pick? Apologies, I haven’t been participating in this, so I have no issue being skipped for a more active participant in the thread if people would prefer! If not, I’ll suggest an album by Faye Wong called Random Thoughts from 1994. It may also be called 胡思亂想 on streaming. A mixture of like Cocteau Twins kind of dream pop with Cantopop, and with the (assumption!) that nobody speaks Cantonese here, the vocals just become another instrument, like Sigur Ros or something along those lines. Some of you may know the name, as she’s an (occasional) actress too, and is the lead actress in the second half of Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express (the woman working in the kebab shop in love with Tony Leung). She also covers The Cranberries Dreams for that film and it’s one of my favourite songs of all time, and is on this album. My wife is from Hong Kong and loves a lot of classic Cantopop, and I love a lot of what Faye Wong was influenced by on this record, so this album has been a great bridging point for us both. I hope people like it! Random Thoughts (Faye Wong album) - Wikipedia
Oh hell yeah. She's great in Chungking Express. I've only listened to Sky, which is really good. Excited to check this out.
Faye Wong album is great! Made for a very relaxing afternoon. Second track is easily my favorite. Cranberries cover is top tier too
Life got away from me and so this thread did too, but I'm determined to start catching up and hear everything chosen. I'll even give another shot to Fever Ray, who I really don't like, because @ghostedaway is good people.
Yeah hopefully. I’ve never actually heard that particular record, just two that came after it, so maybe it’ll be the one I can get down with
