The Fela Kuti album rules so much. Considering skipping my next work call so I don't have to pause it.
Another cult-classic dreampop album that isn’t on streaming but deserves to be heard by all. Here it is on Youtube and Soundcloud (the SC link removes two interlude tracks). https://on.soundcloud.com/F5D4tGreqGnroTXM6
This is giving me M83 vibes in a great way, making me want to revisit Fantasy. Really beautiful and cinematic stuff
Sitting on my porch in pretty perfect weather, pretty high and really digging this. I feel like I typically get pretty bored by this genre/all sounds the same to me but I’m definitely vibing with this right now
Feel like this is lowkey the best thread on the forum. I stg I’ve been listening to the best shit the last few weeks, not even necessarily the weekly choices but also from all the recs that stem from them.
I don’t remember this band at all but this is nice. An easy listen. Kind of sounds like a more indie Cute is What We Aim For. Dig the cello
This is the 2nd of 3 Pompeii albums. All are great. The 3rd one is the least accesible; a little more ethereal and slower paced but has some epic crescendos. The singer is currently still making music under the name Early Internet; it’s good, but the cello is gone and replaced by synths. Hasn’t grabbed me like any of the Pompeii stuff.
Loved that record in high school and college. They have a very earnest sound. It’s like Death Cab blended with aspects of Moving Mountains, and I think fans of early Copeland and Mae would dig it as well. Been a few years since I last played it so I’ll be happy to return to it this week. Love their third one even more though — that one has an Appleseed Cast vibe and experiments with song structures and atmosphere more. I haven’t checked out Early Internet. Will check that out this week as well.
album gets more and more interesting as it goes along imo. some solid hooks throughout. not really something I’d ever seek out on my own but still a pretty solid selection.
