and the only difference between Fire Darm is the typing right? and it just has better coverage i guess? i haven't actually used it/fought against it

i don't remember OG Darmanitan being that revered. And Darmanitan might be one of my most used 'mon

 

Galarian Darmanitan has the ability Gorilla Tactics which is a built in choice band

Therefore you can give it a choice scarf and have a scarf+band set

But yes it was banned last draft because we were using smogon tiers and Galarian Darmanitan was an Uber tier Pokemon

 

Nah different abilities. G-Darmanitan gets a unique ability called Gorilla Tactics which especially acts as a choice band. Then you can use Choice band or scarf on top of it. It's ridiculous lol

yeah i remember looking that up last draft, i kinda forgot. but that's pretty powerful. and a base speed of 95. i mean Scarf is easily the better choice here. But the fact that you can band that too lmao

 

and U-Turn obviously that is massive

 

Choice band G-Darmanitan with sticky Web set up would be a nightmare to deal with

 

If we ban 1 Pokemon it'll definitely be Galarian Darmanitan

But we'll see hahaha

 

I have easily OHKO’d Darm with Pyro Ball or even Body Press with Corviknight

 

Yeah and that's the argument to not banning it, it IS still very stoppable. It's just a glass nuke instead of a glass cannon

If you have Trick Room up you can run Runerigus with Body Press and it fucks up so many teams

 

i definitely think we should consider that.

if this was a league with more experienced players, maybe i'll lean more towards keeping it. it's not uncounterable, but it does feel hard to stop, and might make games less enjoyable?

 

I definitely think G-Darmanitan is very cheap in formats below ubers and makes the game less enjoyable. It can sweep certain teams without even trying. Everyone shouldn't have to choose a certain pokemon specifically to counter one pokemon, that only one person can use. I think it should be banned

 

yeah i agree with that.

did some calcs and the scarfed version can deal somewhere around 40-50% with U-Turn on non-walls (this isn't even a supereffective) which is CRAZY. you get to deal massive damage and keep a momentum going.

 

yeah lemme do the torterra one. the number of these I don't recognize really highlights how many of these games there's been since platinum :o
