[Gen 8] Ubers replay: DerekIsAGooner vs. jakewwwwwww - Pokémon Showdown I is your winner Thank you colsola and dugtrio and g-max Copperjah you absolute monster
@Jake W murdered me. There's no counter that I have for Eviolite Galarian Corsola, and all of my switches were bad.
I know but I've seen zig play so many close games and all of Jake's wins have been complete blowouts haha
Zig constantly outplayed me and I knew it was over when I switched in copperjah and he destroyed it. He clearly did his research and 100% deserved the win
That's fair. Zig's battles do seem closer. I feel like I was only blown out twice this season. And one time was against Matt.....
You can all blame Zig for your loses to me because I put way more effect into tailoring my team against yours after I lost lol
After never having done competitive battling before this league began, I'm pretty happy with 6-4. Maybe I'll get in the playoffs, maybe not. But I want to keep battling. I also want to completely eradicate Strength Sap from the entire planet, but that's a different conversation.
Don't get me wrong zig's a killer of course hahaha. I'm just not discrediting how fucking good Jake is either
My solution for Corsola was to knock off eviolite but I never got a chance to do it against Jake lol.
I can also say in a lot of the matches I won I got lucky with flinch moves, and in the ones I lost I didn't. That's some next level analysis.
Work has me very busy w/CV19, I will be able to jump back in and catch up with this weeks matches starting tomorrow. I'll reach out to everyone via message or in this thread today to schedule. I'm sorry for the silence from me this week, hope everyone is doing well
i think i can sort of explain this. 1. i'm not familiar with the meta (like most of us here) so i can't just assume things and have to learn them during the actual games 2. i'm a control player, so my plan is to slowly increment advantage every turn. i normally don't mind taking hits so i tend to play longer matches. i do a lot of switch-ins because i like testing waters and figuring out what opponents have and don't have. And I only swing for kills when I'm absolutely sure I have most of the information I need to win the game. a simple one: I switch-in Ferrothorn vs a 'mon I know can't kill Ferrothorn. so opp will most likely switch out to one that has a fire move (same with Tyranitar vs a Fighting move). or cause a status effect. if i see the opp throw Burn, then I already know now not to let my physical sweeper be in the same space as that Pokemon and try to play around it. it gets a bit more complicated as the game goes on
but Jake would've crushed me if it was based on skill alone. i have a good prep game i feel like and that was my advantage, and i probably caught him by surprise too
It makes sense, I'm the same way, hence me drafting 2 Prankster Pokemon, 1 Arena Trap (edit: I meant Shadow Tag) Pokemon, and Imposter Ditto. Control is essential
