MVP of my team. Sableye is so good. It just shuts down so many things, and is so hard to kill. im glad it can’t learn toxic
I have a bit of work to do this morning since my boss was out the last 2 days and I have to brief him on shit + get his help with some shit, but I should be available sometime after that haha. But after work would probably be better if you'll be around? I'm off at 5 CST
Hard planning a 6 pokemon team sometimes when you have 10(ok 9 for your guys) threats to consider lol
plus the amount of possible builds. vs Derek I tried to account for SubToxic Aeiglslash lool good luck to you both. im hyped.
also a couple times i just scrapped my entire team and spent a shorter time building a v2 starting from a different angle (this was vs Jake and Laura) and both times that ended great for me.
Benching Aegislash was another thing that really hurt me yesterday, but it was the same deal as Toxtricity - it was a bad matchup for your team. That being said, I'd be super interested to hear what you'd do with my team. If we're doing a 3rd place match I don't know if it's fair if you gave me advice until after the battle though.
Advice is always fair IMO, communication and helping each other with builds is part of the fun As the person who is likely gonna be in the 3rd place match I do not mind at all hahah
i was hoping that would’ve been a more common thing throughout the league. when i get on a pc i can send you a list of what i was expecting but Scrappy Sirfetch’d would be so destructive for sure
I would love to see this. I knew that I had to throw something unexpected at him if I wanted to have shot, but I also could have set things up entirely differently to support some of the big Pokemon I ended up not using.
the more information out in the open the better imo because that’s the fastest way the line between new and experienced players can dissolve. if everyone’s competing in the same level with most information present then it really becomes a battle of skill and prediction. not saying to give out everything, it’s always fun to surprise the meta. just enough to get players in a comfortable place, and get a good learning process going
Dustin helped me with my first seven matches, but then I did my own for the final three (him, his wife, his best friend) and I went 2-1. The “mentor ship” definitely helped me. I’m also panic-battling randoms for 2-3 hours a night right now trying to reduce anxiety from covid-19 and that’s kinda helping.
Looking at Derek's team it can hit hard as fuck and is way faster than than Zig's team, two thing that really need to be taken advantage of here because Zig's team is way bulkier and we all know how annoying some of his team can be(I mean we all lost to him lol). One benefit to his team being really slow is that Derek's pokemon can benefit from being attack or special attack + natures as they mostly still outspeed Zig's team. Malamar @ Choice Scarf Ability: Contrary EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Switcheroo - Psycho Cut - Knock Off - Superpower This set can cripple any of his bulky pokemon with switcheroo + choice scarf. Contrary + superpower increases your attack and defence, trust me it can be deadly, I've swept with it before. Togekiss @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Nasty Plot - Roost - Air Slash - Dazzling Gleam Togekiss is a must because sableye is the worst. Set up on a switch and she's going to be deadly. I couldn't decided on heavy duty boots or leftovers, but ended up choosing HDB because I know Zig uses stealth rock. Flygon @ Life Orb Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe Lonely Nature - Flamethrower - U-turn - Dragon Claw - Earthquake Flamethrower for Ferrothorn. Life Orb means it still does good damage even though it's invested in attack. U-turn for free switch. dragon claw and earthquake for dual STAB coverage. Sirfetch'd @ Choice Band Ability: Scrappy EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - First Impression - Close Combat - Knock Off - Poison Jab This was already talked about last night. It hits hard. scrappy also lets it hit sableye with close combat. enough said Hawlucha Ability: Mold Breaker EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Acrobatics - Close Combat - Substitute - Swords Dance Pretty standard set. I went with Mold Breaker/no item instead of a berry/unburden as it doesn't need the speed boost and mold breaker fucks with Quagsire if it's unaware. Aegislash @ Leftovers Ability: Stance Change EVs: 248 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Substitute - Toxic - Shadow Ball - King's Shield Pretty sure you use a similar set so don't really need to explain this one
i agree with that team i would’ve considered flamethrower on togekiss too over Nasty Plot as a backup, but since I prob wouldn’t switch in Ferrothorn in front of Togekiss, that is a more reasonable choice. Toxic Aegislash is the other build I was talking about that could wreck my team (once all the EQ mons disappear)
Yeah that or I'd probably want to run Taunt somewhere. And Hawlucha could have mental herb to keep Sabeleye from switching in and locking it into Close Combat. That way it's a consumable item and then you can get the full power of Acrobatics after.
