Gonna do concerts. All great. 20 total, 23 if you counted Gizzfest as 3. Rankings VERY rough, don't hold me to them. Phish ranked separately to come in a separate post that absolutely no one will give a shit about but I'm still gonna post in here cuz it makes me laugh. Sorry for long post I was gonna put it in a quote box so it would be collapsible but it's also harder to read in that box so you guys just have to deal 1. Aug 15, 2025 – Aug 17, 2025 - Field of Vision Festival - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Meadow Creek, Buena Vista, Colorado, US The first night of this I was on a truly transcendant combination of psychedlics and depressants and had perhaps the best time of my life at a concert, definitely my best acid trip. Gizz are the best live band going right now full stop, I highly recommend you see them even if you've never heard a note. It's unlike any other show going. 2. Dec 12, 2025 - SML - The Sultan Room, New York, New York, US Another show unlike any other going and one of the most exciting tickets you could find. They are a guitar/sax/bass/drums jazz combo (Greg Uhlmann/Josh Johnson/Anna Butterss/Booker Stardrum) plus Jeremiah Chiu on modular synth and they just play live. No songs except when they happen to fall into a riff they've found before - otherwise it's 100% improv you're seeing them do live. And likely, what you hear will be chopped up and remixed and put on their next record. Really cool stuff, utterly unique. Sounds and grooves you would never expect. I put the bootleg iPhone recording of this show in the jazz thread. 3. Dec 11, 2025 - Cameron Winter - Carnegie Hall, New York, New York, US I mean, just magical. A completely unique experience that I will be bragging about for the rest of my life. Cannot wait for the movie, Bennie Safdie def captured me cheering during the standing ovation before the encore. A historical performance of a historical album by a historical artist. Nina + Field of Cops was transcendant, I cried and got chills. All of that is notwithstanding the beautiful historic venue as well. Incredible stuff. 4. Jun 09, 2025 - Grace Jones / Janelle Monáe - Prospect Park Bandshell, New York, New York, US Unbelievable. Unbelievable. She is 77 years old and doesn't miss a single cue in a single song during her full length set, despite being visibly drunk as hell and trying to get Janelle Monae to come home with her. All of that goes out the window once she gets the right (literal) hat on and the song starts, then it could be a performance from 1982 as far as I'm concerned. She hula hooped while singing for like 7 straight minutes! At the END of her show! She's SEVENTY SEVEN!! 5. Jun 27, 2025 - Godspeed You! Black Emperor / Marisa Anderson - District Music Hall, Norwalk, Connecticut, US Another that would be high on the list of my all time shows. What a great year tbh, when I put it like that. Not sure if there's anything I can say about this show that hasn't been said before. Every one is an improvisational achievement rarely matched, and then their stage design is so perfect and fitting and cultivates such a vibe. It feels like you're watching someone save the world, although that might've been the very small but absolutely perfect amount of horse tranquilizer I was on that made me feel like that and also cry during the show. 6. Nov 21, 2025 - Geese / Dove Ellis / Racing Mount Pleasant - Brooklyn Paramount, New York, New York, US I cried during Au Pays du Cocaine and Long Island City Here I Come, don't know how anyone wouldn't. 2122 with the RMP horns. Have to go back because didn't get 3D Country. What a terrible crowd though LOL. Have you really seen a trendy band in NYC if you didn't hear a bunch of college kids that you're surprised are even 21 drunkenly trying and failing to lead a sing-along of the least sing-along-y song on the record in the coat check line after the show? No you didn't. 7. Jun 10, 2025 - Rich Ruth / Hooveriii - Elsewhere Zone One, New York, New York, US Rich Ruth and his band make super unique and gorgeous ambient/psych/jazz sounds that I was so glad to see in person. I think more of you will hear of Rich Ruth as time goes on because he personally told me that he would love to play in a more straightford psych/rock/jam band, or even a metal band in the future. And if he does it will be good and unique enough that the open minded music fans of this forum will find it and enjoy it. 8. Apr 28, 2025 - MJ Lenderman / Joanna Sternberg - Brooklyn Steel, New York, New York, US First of all, Joanna was a bit of a revelation. Their stripped down, very personal and emotional singer-songwriter stuff isn't something I would reach for on my own to be honest but it worked perfectly live. And it's very easy for that to come across as cringe live, I think. MJ was everything I hoped he'd be, played all the hits plus a Neil cover, Get the Grill out of the Rain, SUV. Perfect setlist. And yes, a cringe failed sing-along after the show in the coat-check line. 9. Nov 15, 2025 - Tortoise - Bowery Ballroom, New York, New York, US See them. They're so loud, they have two drum kits, they rotate instruments, they don't sing, and they'll make you cry and dance like hell. Have you ever seen a rock band with a vibraphone? What are you some kind of loser? The new record was just fine imo but Tortoise remains a band I think literally everyone should see, a show "unlike any other" as I said twice already. 10. Nov 11, 2025 - Wednesday / Daffo - Brooklyn Steel, New York, New York, US Karly is so good. Unbelievable live performer. I don't have as much of a personal connection to Wednesday as I do MJ but this show made me like Wednesday a lot more and sparked a little phase of listening for me. Phish Pepsi my favorite song on the new record (and I promise it would be even if it didn't mention Phish) and hearing the pop from myself and the other 5 Phish fans in the crowd was great. 11. Jun 20, 2025 - Dogs in a Pile - Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts, Westport, Connecticut, US Putting the other Jam Band I saw on the list because it was just once. Great show, got Minnie the Moocher which I hadn't seen. Really great meat of the show with Gumball>Mr Charlie, Bugle on the Shelf, Spun->Jack & Coke>Minnie the Moocher. Really funny crowd, about 50/50 druggie dirtbags like myself vs preppy Westport, Connecticut ass motherfuckers in polos and khakis and there with their dads. Weird vibes. I bought drugs at the show. 12. Aug 08, 2025 - SUMAC / Chepang / Patrick Shiroishi - Space Ballroom, Hamden, Connecticut, US Shiroishi was a bit of a revelation, still have to dig into his 3(!!) records from last year. Really cool to see him do great solo sax stuff as the opener and then come out and feel fully integrated into BOTH metal bands that he played with. SUMAC with sax felt like a very unique experience and I love to see a metal band improvise. Could really tell I was watching masters at work despite not recognizing a ton of the songs. 13. Jun 05, 2025 - Full of Hell / Harm's Way - Webster Underground, Hartford, Connecticut, US I like both of these bands but I mostly went for nostalgia's sake, had been 10 years since I'd been to this venue and was feeling the urge to see a metal/hardcore show. Harm's Way are perhaps the quintessential roid hardcore band and put on a great show, Full of Hell do some fucking INSANE stuff on stage - don't know how the drummer or the vocalist do any of that. WIldly impressive show they put on. 14. Jul 26, 2025 - Shout! Tribute to Talking Heads - Talcott Mountain Collective, Simsbury, Connecticut, US An extremely fun little Talking Heads cover set. The main guy looked like he could've been my brother and everyone there made sure I noticed. I did notice. 15. Jun 26, 2025 - Deerhoof / Asher White - Space Ballroom, Hamden, Connecticut, US This show was good but I had a headache most of the time and was not feeling well at all.

my friend brought it over for a vinyl listening night and I was blown away. Became a huge summer staple
Certainly don't have the same amount of time I used to to devote to music but there was some good stuff on these lists but for me... Geese - Getting Killed is still my top (and listening to their discography and Cameron solo I fully appreciate all of it) Also enjoyed Florence and The Machine - Everybody Scream Bon Iver - Sable/Fable Matt Beringer Turnstile Dear Orca EP Dove Eliss Moving Mountains I enjoyed to some extent the emo revival from bands like Hot Mulligan, and the returns of Motion City and The Starting Line but the sound doesn't click like it used to. Not sure if that is due to my age or the fact that I was in my 20s when the emo explosion occurred in the early-mid 00s and need to hear something really really special if you are going to enter my emo realm Anyway, on that note, just wanted to say that I enjoy coming to this forum. Although my world views in many different topics significantly differ from many users here I still like that we can still share commonalities in our tastes in various media and at the end of the day we are all human and fight for our beliefs Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!

I am not into them now but I saw them in 2019, I liked them then but kinda didn't like any songs they've written since lol. I just mean watching something very niche become significantly less niche, it's weird
