Both most listen albums this year were OnTheWater picks from album club. Colour of Spring - Talk Talk Hats - The Blue Nile
Probably their best, but Rooftops by The Blue Nile and Laughing Stock/the Mark Hollis solo tape are very close
I like Head on the Door the best, but Disintegration is close. The new one might be my third favorite
While we’re at it let’s get a shout out for Seventeen Seconds and Wish But fr though Head On The Door is the one

STOP!! Before you read this...GO LISTEN TO "CAPSTAN - THE MOSAIC" IN FULL! Random side note before the list: In 2023 I was probably the only person on Chorus.FM that had Sabrina Carpenter as high as #6 much less on their list at all. I expect that to change this year! That said...here we go! 1. CAPSTAN - THE MOSAIC I must once again ask you all how this band isn't so much bigger!? You want yrics that read like poetry? I'd be these tracks as a book of poems. You like intricit guirar riffs and catchy rhymns? They are experts at their instruments. You want hard tracks? They got it. You want emotion? They bring it. You want catchy chorus's? You'll want to sing it. You want guitar solos? They rip it. You want to get up in your feels and cry? Get your tissues ready. Looking for a gym soundtrack? The adrenaline is real. Some of these tracks are individually songs of the year but the work as a whole start to finish listen truly is a beautiful and perfectly crafted mosaic. The day this album was released was my real Christmas. I blasted it and jumped around singing and screaming and crying in my home office like an idiot and marbeled at this record and I'm hoping you do too. I'm including youtube links to 4 tracks from this album that are all very different and showcase some of the different sides of this band. I cannot urge everyone enough to go listen to all 4 and enjoy. Last I'll say...is even when I've seen them on tour, the other bands that play with them always gush on stage about how hard it is to follow them or how talented they are and they are the nicest dudes. Super last comment, they had the bravery in their Heart to Heart video to feature a LBGTQIA+ storyline and it only made me love them more for how mature and inclusive they are. I hope this post finds people. https://youtu.be/ryBE76i3IGQ?si=3ASI6iien37KXnn3 2. Cory Wells - Harboring the Hurt I've Caused Similar to Capstan, Cory Wells is super slept on and I kinda blame his crappy label for not supporting him. When we get older we have to get grown up jobs and work grown up hours. Cory Wells has been reduced to doing music in his free time, not really touring, installing showers in peoples bathrooms which is an honest hard working job so no hate...but he was born to make, write, sing and perform deep, inspirational, emotional music that I would describe as old school Dashboard Confessional if it had more grit, a deeper powerful voice and some more rough edges to it. I fear with Cory Wells and Capstan alike that if we don't start propping artists like these up they won't be able to continue on doing it. So please go give it a spin because I want more songs and more tours (he can belt like crazy live). 3. The Dangerous Summer - Gravity There's something magical about this record. For those who have listened...I think that about covers it. Ambience for all the senses. 4. Belmont - Liminal Even typing the name of this record makes me want to yell, "I keep on living day by day!" Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet Driveways - Tempest In Her Own Words - Left in the Dark **Under Construction**
I have not liked a single release of Sabrina Carpenter's up until this year but something about Short n' Sweet really hit me. Maybe my favorite full on pop record of the year.
