I'm not including it, and it definitely would have been in my top 3...I've removed all BN from my playlists, Apple Music Library etc., just so they don't pop up by mistake when I Shuffle. Both a matter of principle, and not wanting to resurface those feelings since they were a primary part of my life for the last 15 years.
I think I've decided to include Science Fiction in my Top 50 write up, but instead of talking about the music or history of the artist like I normally would, I'll use it as a space to express some thoughts regarding accountability, art vs. artist, and the rampant sexual abuse problem that was exposed in 2017. Idk how many of you enjoy writing about your lists beyond just listing them out, but just wanted to share that avenue with y'all that are sorta struggling with that too. If I was just listing albums with no commentary though, I think I'd just wind up leaving it off, personally. There are a few records that wound up in the "honorable mentions" bin that could easily take its place if I was just namedropping shit I liked this year
I had Smith Street on my list but, it fell in the 30's so I didn't include it in my post... I didn't want to do a top 50 again. It IS a great record... there was just a lot of releases that resonated with me more. Just personal taste, bud.
1. Emperor X - Oversleepers International 2. Uyama Hiroto - Freeform Jazz 3. Xiu Xiu - Forget 4. The National - Sleep Well Beast 5. Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life 6. absolutely. i don't think anyone has done anything wrong in not liking it or anything. i just feel very alone in my deep love for it lol.
Wolf Alice- Visions of a life Manchester Orchestra- A Black Mile To The Surface Charly Bliss- Guppy Tigers Jaw- Spin Kendrick Lamar- Damn Run The Jewels- RTJ3 (probably included this last year too but oh well lol) Phoebe Bridgers- Stranger In The Alps Caracara- Summer Megalith Sorority Noise- You're not as ____ as you think Pvris- All we know of heaven, all we need of hell Honourable mentions to Circa Waves- Different Creatures, Can't Swim- Fail You Again and Nothing But Thieves- Broken Machine (problematic as they may or may not be- while the account has been denied and that was an isolated event I'm cautiously putting them here). Also Aaron West- Orchard Park and The Wonder Years- Burst and Decay are some great non-album releases. The band that shall not be named would probably be towards the lower end of the top 10 or an honourable mention but that's scorched earth for me now so it's not happening.

I’ve only listened to it a few times but I really liked that blis record.. the lyrics were a bit weird at times tho
It's very laid back vibes and something different than I normally listen to (it's more of an R&B album). I'm not the best at articulating why i like music haha but I'd recommend checking it out. It also helps I have a good friend who's been playing it a ton when we're together, so I've had a lot of exposure to it.

The best part of EOTY lists is going is discovering releases that I missed during the year. I always find 2-3 that stick and become favorites. My top find so far is Gang of Youths' Go Farther In Lightness. I've been listening to it non-stop the past two days.
