    I got Penny and Sparrow in my inbox months ago and forgot to listen! It's in my iTunes. I should check it out. In the past, I've found their stuff to be very pleasant but not super memorable.

    Yeah it just kept winning head-to-heads. Swift was too uneven. Bleachers lacked the high points. Etc.

    I can't imagine her ever missing a list I would make at this rate.

  16. That Dia album is excellent. Also nice seeing Brighten get an honorable mention. I don't think I saw that one show up on any other lists. It was top 5 for me last year.

    They are honestly an exceptionally consistent band. I felt bad leaving them off, but it was a deep year.

    That Brighten album really took me by surprise after I had already made my list. If I made a new one now, it definitely would make it.

  19. Love the electronic flourishes that he started incorporating on that album. "Leather Weather" and "Leading Myself On" create such a great atmosphere.

    In particular I think you'd like ;
    Asgeir (Icelandic folky ish music, bit Bon Iver-y)

    Tei Shi (Somewhere between RnB and electro pop ish)

    Tusks (downtempo electronic singer songwriter melancholy music.)

    Madeline Kenny (describes herself as "Folk gaze", a mixture of folk and shoegaze)

    Thomas Dybdahl (Classic American singer songwriter). Edit: Turns out he's actually Norwegian?!?!?. Very American sounding then...

    Wolf Alice (Loud, really fun grungy / rock n roll stuff).

    As far as what to avoid I don't imagine (but could well be wrong) you'd enjoy Jamie Lenman, Adore Repel, The Body & Full of hell or Solstafir.

    Hope that helps!

    I was looking back for my list and saw this and we share 4/5 of the top 5, and the only one not in my top 5 (TSwift) was like 12 or something on mine. Congrats to us!
