Tell me what I missed Supporter

I’ve never heard of Tei Shi, what kind of music is it? (Weird question I know)

What kind of mood is ideal for a first listen?

    Ew, David

    1. Lorde-Melodrama
    2. Pvris-AWKOH AWNOH
    3. Lights-Skin and Earth
    4. Eisley-I'm Only Dreaming
    5. K. Flay-Everywhere is Somewhere

Going to mimic @mattfreaksmeout and include an album not of this year but that I discovered & loved this year:

    -Uh Huh Her-Nocturnes

(PS-Paramore is my favorite band and it kills me not to put them on here, but After Laughter just sounds like an album of b-sides to me)

So yeah, I've read @cwhit talk about Emperor X like a bazillion times but realized yesterday I never listened to them. I'm usually not real big on a lot of the stuff you recommend (just different tastes) but I feel bad for sleeping on this one.

i truly think he's genuine music genius. and this record is the first of his to actually be accessible enough to allow more than a niche group of people to realize that

She's kinda like chill synthpop or indiepop. She did guest vocals for Glass Animals if ur a fan of them. I like really mellow driving music so I usually listen to her when I have a drive to make!

It’s mind-boggling to me that you’d think that of After Laughter but have AWKOHAWNOH as number 2 haha. Bummer you didn’t like it much!

Some ppl may disagree with this choice but this year I decided to make a list with only women/acts with women on it. There weren't that many men on my original list anyway, and I feel like the men that were on it have gotten enough attention elsewhere anyway. There's no order.

Lana del Rey - Lust For Life
    Kesha - Rainbow
    Tei Shi - Crawl Space
    Diana Gameros - Arullo
    Ibeyi - Ash
    Rina Sawayama - RINA
    Calma Carmona - 100 Vidas
Camila Luna - Flora y Fauna
Kelly Clarkson - Meaning of Life
Julien Baker - Turn Out The Lights

Artists who didnt release an album this year but recently came on my radar and I'm keeping an eye on:

(They're supposed to release an album in 2017 but if they have, I can't find it)

Absolutely. Field ‘99 into Puddle of Blood is probably my favorite opening 1-2 punch of the year.

After Laughter is pretty universally praised as some of the band's best work, whereas a lot of people were left disappointed with the new PVRIS (I really dig it however).

Comparing the two albums, I’d say AL has absolutely stellar songs whereas I was pretty underwhelmed with AWKOH. But obviously to each there own!

Well if we go by fan reactions alone (not critics), I've heard the exact opposite haha

Different circles I guess, because I'm also going off fan reactions. Both on this site and in irl haha. I actually like both albums pretty equally. I'd probably give the edge to Paramore but What's Wrong is better than anything on either album.

I’ve seen almost universal praise for After Laughter, and everyone went OFF for the new songs when I saw them.

Man, I just went through all 11 pages and I don’t believe I saw any of my top 3 even on anyone else’s lists at all which baffles me, especially my #1 which I just found to be a super enjoyable record. For those that are intrigued but don’t want to go way back to page 3 to see my list: 1. Awaken I Am - Blind Love, 2. Carousel Kong’s - Charm City, 3. Picturesque - Back To Beautiful

Other than that - thank you all for posting. I’ve listened to so many new artists and albums in the last week because of all of your posts. This is my favorite time of year for music bc these lists bring me a ton of new stuff to listen to.
