Frightened Rabbbit, Friends in America, There Will be Fireworks, The Tallest Man On Earth and Bon Iver (x2) have released 10/10 records this decade.
Well obviously the main goal is to enjoy it. But it's okay to like an album more than an other. That's all we are doing.
Ahh, I think I'm more fond of the first overall although "River" is easily my favourite song by them. That song is insane. I love both albums though and really want a third.
I was in Osaka during the new year 2013, and at like 6am I was supposedly taking the train back from Osaka to Kyoto, which is where I was staying. Of course, I fell asleep in the train, and woke up with my headphones on when " River" kicked in, in the absolute middle of nowhere in the Japanese countryside.
Yeah I know, I meant if an album truly touches you it shouldn't matter if it's an 8 or 9 idk how to explain how I'm feeling haha
Oh okay, I see what you're saying now. If it's good enough to make your EOTY list, then stressing out over placement of an album within a few slots shouldn't matter.
I do sort of agree with you but I would also add that how a person is feeling is the biggest factor in whatever numerical rating they ascribe to an album. I don't think you can separate them.
Waiting on the Old Gray album before I solidify my list but the number one spot hasn't changed since February. Cardinal by Pinegrove is untouchable.

I don't assign numerical ratings to albums, but I love plenty of albums I'd call an 8 or 9. I have no idea how I'd even decide on records that deserve a 10/10. It just seems arbitrary and judging an albums value that way is useless to me.
After listening to over 1,000 releases from 2016 I've added my favorite 50 albums to my original post. Also added a handful of honorable mentions and my favorite EPs from the year.
You and I have discussed them at length, but not the new album. Possibly my least favorite album of theirs, but easily good enough for my top 50, hahaha
2013 is my favorite year of all time for music. So many albums from that year have stuck with me as all-time favorites that I still spin regularly.
