Don't know if this has been on many lists, but y'all need to check out the Lucy Dacus album. I added it to my Apple Music forever ago and only just started playing it this month. It is so good.
This is the first year I've really felt like a music fan. So many new genres I grew to love and so much music discovered. Years past I probably would have struggled to make a Top 10, but I've listened to close to 100 albums this year, most of which I really enjoyed, and I've still got a huge list left to go through. Its a song that means a lot to me, personally. I see it as a song about someone moving on peacefully into death, and how "the things you grow are set to die/you cling to them with knuckles white". I've lost both my grandpas this year along with my aunt, I just graduated college, and a lot of my best friends are starting to move on to the next stage of their life, so its just a lot of different things this year that make me feel like this song really defined my year. The morning I learned my grandpa had passed, this song actually came on shuffle when I got into my car that day, and it gave me a sense of peace. On top of that though, I think the song is really amazing and super underrated. I love everything about it.
She inhabits a perfect space between Sharon Van Etten and Courtney Barnett that I didn't know I needed to hear.

Awesome. I am really looking forward to it. I grew to depend on their constant reviews on the old site. As it is, I'm pretty much trying to see who has similar tastes to my own and tallying up numbers so I know what I should be checking out.
