I listen to the 1975 multiple times a week and it continues to help me in numerous ways, nevermind the ways it has already helped me and gotten me through a literal nightmare
yeah i'm the same way, it showed up deep on my list because it is good it is just not the kind of record i want to listen to these days haha
Like all my top 50 and honorable mentions are albums I love and there are even more that I forgot to list that I love. I'm baffled when people say they can't come up with 20 albums they love
missed out on planes mistaken for stars. definitely could have seen that making my list if i had more time with it
I finally tried that 1975 album a week or two ago and really don't vibe with it at all. On my list!!!!!
Glad you get it more haha, but I think I'm done trying. The lyrics are interesting but don't catch my attention enough to make up for not liking anything else, and I cannot get into this dudes voice Actually reminds me a lot of the Sorority Noise album from last year that I also didn't get at all.
Home - 2014, sorry. What an ignorant fool I am. Regardless, their new one annoyed me more than anything. Especially that first song and it's drumming.
Yeah I didn't like it after the first few listens and then gave up on it...until about a week ago. I had it on loop playing in the background and I noticed the last song, New Friends, enjoyed that one and then the album started over with Old Friends. I think the pairing of those two songs really got me into the album as a whole.

I'm glad people didn't forget about Daughter. It was released so early that I felt like it may slip through the cracks but seeing it rated highly is nice.
Haha, not trying to offend! My AOTY is predictable as fuck too. I'll send you a few recs in a few minutes!
I like you. So much great stuff on here, so I'm going to go through the ones I haven't heard throughout the week!
I see that you really enjoy the new From Indian Lakes album. What do you like about it? Did you like Able Bodies? I feel like his sound has changed drastically since then and I really dislike where he's gone. Also the whole album first then band is a bit annoying. : )
Thanks for this...you like a lot of albums I do, so the ones I never heard of (Microwave, All Get Out) I checked out and dig too. This is why end of year lists are awesome.
Noted, will change that! I've loved every FIL release. It goes Absent Sounds > Able Bodies > Wooden Legs > EFBN, and they're not that far apart. My taste has just evolved with their sound. I used to be into the heavier indie music a few years back and as they've gotten quieter and more experimental, my taste in indie has as well. I won't lie, I didn't like it as first listen, I was disappointed. But after a few more listens I started to find things I love, until I grew to put it up there with their past work. Blank Tapes, Nome, and Sunlight is some of Joey's best work. I particularly love the chorus in Sunlight where the synth and vocal melody follow each other, the explosive chorus in Nome, and the song structure in Blank Tapes. I lot of the things he's tried on these songs has worked for me and I find new things every few days that make me appreciate it more and more. For example, just today I put on a good pair of headphones and found some hidden lyrics buried deep in the mix in Nome.
