haha i dont think we get credit for that but it is cool to finally see people embracing it more i get credit for people listing future tho
I sincerely challenge anyone to beat my end of the year list, this is easily the hardest I've ever went with paying attention to new music from new and old bands:
Obviously Sherlock Holmes but I mean beat it as in the amount of quality albums that someone has come across that's been released this year. I'm joking around about the challenge part, more so interested in seeing if anyone else was as invested in new music this year.
Haha, I think I beat you then. I've listened to over 1,000 releases from 2016. https://forum.chorus.fm/posts/77378
Did you even check out my playlist or no? Have you posted your eoty list yet because I'd be happy to give it a look. Edit: ok I see it but do you enjoy all of those releases? I cut out a ton of albums because personally I wasn't feeling them like the new radical face, daughter, de la soul etc.
I'm just talking amount of stuff. I've listened to over 1,000 releases from this year. I will check out your list when I'm on my PC. Mine is on the first page but just from your first 4 (what I can see in your Spotify app) we have very different tastes. And it's seriously not a competition dude. I was just kidding.
Now if we can just slowly keep adding genres to that fold, we'll really be getting somewhere. Next year they'll all be emo, rap and country!
01. Highly Suspect - The Boy Who Died Wolf 02. All Get Out - Nobody Likes a Quitter 03. Parker Millsap – The Very Last Day 04. Thrice – To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere 05. Yellowcard – Self Titled 06. Wolves at the Gate – Types & Shadows 07. Pinegrove – Cardinal 08. Blink 182 – California 09. Norma Jean – Polar Similar 10. The Gentle Hits - The Gentle Hits 11. Relient K – Air for Free 12. Direct Hit! – Wasted Mind 13. Every Time I Die – Low Teens 14. Jimmy Eat World – Integrity Blues 15. Atmosphere – Fishing Blues 16. Catfish and the Bottlemen – The Ride 17. Dan Layus – Dangerous Things 18. Cody Jinks – I’m Not the Devil 19. Wovenwar – Honor is Dead 20. Billie Marten - Writing of Blues and Yellows
I know it's not a competition haha that's not my intention like I stated, it's just something that I've been wondering about. Also I categorized my list from mellow to heavy, think singer/ songwriter - emo - hardcore - ambient - blackmetal or something like that.
I will blame that bias for why like 2 people total have listened to the Hailey record, because it makes me feel better. Haha
Isn't listening to (Pop) Punk and Hip Hop (and related genres) just the result of growing up in the 90s and 00s as a music fan? This literally applied to 90% of people interested in music I went to school/college with. The other 10% are the guys and girls still trying to convince people that Sandman by Metallica is the deepest song of all time and that only music with "real instruments" counts
Going to have to put mine up when I get home from work. I keep a running list throughout the year on my laptop for everything I listen to (and all the movies I watch and games I play) during the year, so I guess it's finally time to solidify everything. And, unlike movies this year (which have crowded all their limited releases into December so that their wide releases aren't happening until January, severely delaying the ability to make an accurate list) pretty much everything is out for 2016 already music-wise.
