I once heard Jon Caramanica say that Kendrick's music would be better if all parts of it were "20% less", and I kind of agree with that. It's mostly the voice that I can't get into though. I see the appeal and I respect the impact he has, it's just not for me, but I'll gladly listen to it if someone else puts it on.
One year later, I still don't feel very strongly about my 2015 list order. Nothing feels like a #1 album, but there's a bunch I still go back to. 1) Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool 2) Purity Ring - another eternity 3) Chvrches - Every Open Eye 4) Sufjan Stevens - Carrie and Lowell 5) Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle 6) Punch Brothers - The Phosphorescent Blues 7) The Staves - If I Was 8) Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Multi-Love 9) Tame Impala - Currents 10) Torres - Sprinter

I just finished Bong Mountain (must be a tie with Diarrhea Planet for silliest band name of 2016). I enjoyed it quite a bit!
Either Bjork with a 30 piece string orchestra, or Nordic Giants with like a massive projection behind them. Probs Bjork.
I love this process so much every year. But the most stressful moment is when I give something a listen to "double check" that it's honorable mentions or off my list and then I like it waaaaaay more than I remembered.
1. GlassJAw / Silver Snakes (it was an off date from the tour with them, Coheed and I The Mighty... GJ played 6 new songs and I was right in front) 2. The Movielife (headlining show in VA Beach of all places, I was thankful they came) 3. Hit The Lights / TSSF (small venue with no barrier between the stage... so. many. stage dives.) 4. The Black Dahlia Murder / Fallujah (Fallujah had a great light show for such a small venue and TBDM ripped as always) 5. underOath Rebirth Tour (Nostalgia... that was about it) 6. Saosin / Young & Hopeless / Limbs (Disappointed with this show... the stage was lit up the whole time with regular lights... what happened to the strobe heavy setup we saw on the Come Close DVD? Saosin sounded great but the other two bands did nothing for me) I think those are the only shows that I went to this year.
I think it would be a cool idea for a thread where you could pick one album from your EOTY list and reccomend it/review it or whatever. I feel like a lot of times there are some gems in peoples list that you might miss out on just because they aren't in like the top five/ten
