    Didn't care for that Stott record at first, but I've come around on it recently.

    its good but when i compare it to like, luxury problems it just doesnt hold a candle

  7. robbieberns

    @robbieberns Prestigious

    I feel that. It's served me well recently as a comfy cold weather, stoned and sleepy record. Disappointing might be fair, but I appreciate it for what it is.

    im probably gonna revisit a lot in the coming months because i listen to all of his stuff in the winter haha. and maybe its not fair for me to compare to luxury problems because thats a top 10 of the decade record for me

    with how much music is constantly coming out and how much i keep up with it, i dont really care if i dont return to an album a lot. if i completely forget about it or dont want to return to it, that's different.

    Once finals are over I'm going to jump into all that I've missed/neglected. You're end year list will most likely be my starting point, haha.

    hell yeah! i love when people tell me they're digging into stuff on my list because i can have people to talk about some of the stuff with! since i listen to some genres that are underrepresented on this site outside of a thread or two

    Did anyone else even like that In Her Own Words album? I haven't seen it on anyone's list and it was my #1.

    Biggest disappointment for me would include Frightened Rabbit, Tegan and Sara, Against Me, M83, The Hotelier or MIA.

    Various "scales" of disappointment for the above, but I was disappointed by all of those records.

    hmmm

    On reflection, I think it's the most disappointed I've been with a record in a good while. After the outstanding Fake History and the potential brilliance of The Blackest Beautiful (had the production not been so shoddy) I had such high hopes for this.

    I don't think a single song's stuck with me.

    Easily the biggest letdown of the year.

    I almost wish they just put out The Blackest Beautiful on Tragic Hero and then fell off like all other THR bands.

    EDIT: with that said, what the fuck ever happened to The Morning Of putting out a record this year?!

    Good Mourning America is pretty great IMO and even Reluctantly Dead is pretty good for what it is, but after that....

    I listened to it again recently for the first time in months and there's still only about four songs I enjoy. Disappointing for sure
