I think it’s only $4 to rent on Amazon. It’s probably Dupieux’s least weird movie, still very weird.

I have a copy of it on my hard drive, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Will try to squeeze it in this week or next since I have some time off work.

I don't know if I've watched enough good things actually released in 2020 to make a top 5. I've spent most of my time this year watching older works that I've been wanting to sit down and watch forever now. Da 5 Bloods & Palm Springs are the only ones I can for sure say I loved. I only just watched Mank tonight, but I like it more and more as I think about it, so we'll see where that ultimately ends up.

I like that Hubie Halloween has gotten 3 mentions so far in this thread, compared to Tenet’s 2.

Don’t know how many people on this site read comics outside of Marvel/DC/Image, but The Magic Fish & The Loneliness of the Long Distance Cartoonist are both very good graphic novels. The former is a very good story about immigration, coming out, fairy tales, & language; the latter is a fun autobio comic from one of my favorite independent cartoonists.

    Top 10 2020 Films

    1 - Soul
    2 - Tenet
    3 - Black Bear
    4 - Palm Springs
    5 - Kajillionaire
    6 - Mank
    7 - An American Pickle
    8 - Birds Of Prey
    9 - Eurovision Song Contest
    10 - Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

Soul was just pretty much perfect. Tenet was an entertaining ride. Black Bear was unlike anything I've seen before. Palm Springs was really funny and with the groundhog day element quickly rose towards the top of my list. After that it becomes a bit more difficult to rank but these movies entertained me the most this year.

Still need to see: Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Assistant and more.

Movies I liked but I found a bit overrated: Happiest Season, I'm Thinking Of Ending Things and Sound of Metal.

This is the only mention of this movie on the site - Quo vadis, Aida?. Just watched it now. Fuck. The dread you feel as the men are lead away, to the emotions the woman goes through in present time - just ugh. Hopefully it gets a wider release (apparently only available anywhere right now on the Curzon streaming service).
