I'm not a huge Fall Out Boy fan, but there's definitely songs in their catalogue I would love to take a stab at.

I'm assuming the Fall Out Boy comp would just be a TTTYG album cover, hahahah

Although, I would probably cover one of their newer songs just for the sake of it

I haven't really lurked the Fall Out Boy forum on here. But that's really cool to hear. Their new albums are really great pop records. I'm glad people can see where they're coming from and they're new take on music.

What would you do? I would really enjoy doing The Kids Aren't Alright from their American Beauty/American Psycho album

I would probably try to take on "What a Catch, Donnie" or "Save Rock and Roll". I love those songs.

Holy frick. "Cut it loose, watch you work the room." Man, that song was like the anthem of my teenage awkward phase with girls. hahahah. That song is fantastic. Infinity on High is my favorite album of theirs, and their best by far. I think it's a perfect blend of what they currently are and what they were. It's just a fantastic album. Probably in my top 10 albums of all time

  16. Mid-December - Winter
Early January - Best of 2016
Late January (around inauguration) - Rock Against Trump
    February - Fall Out Boy

feel like december should be rock against trump and january eoty and then return to band comps after that. those two themes just seem more important and topical than doing bands that can be done literally at any point in the future

I think Fall Out Boy has been on the polls like twice before and each time it only got like 4 total votes, or some surprisingly small number.

  19. My other suggestion would've been to do Rock Against Trump in December and Best of 2016 in January, save Winter for next year, and, yeah, we can do Fall Out Boy whenever, I just like that FOB and February both start with the letter F.

    my two cents

rock against trump would be corny and weird and also trivialize how terrible a trump presidency is going to be. it would be weirdly self-serving in a way that doesn't actually accomplish any activist or organizational goal, just us covering songs about...? how much this sucks? for us, a thread whose vast majority is white and/or cis male? for an audience of ourselves and fellow forum members, again mostly white and/or cis male?

these types of comps only make sense if they're actual bands with draw doing them and donating money to organizations that help the people whose well beings are actively threatened by a trump presidency. or at least in explicit solidarity with them, not (the majority of) the people who comprise this thread and forum.

would be down to do literally anything else.

a better idea imo would be to exclusively cover songs by queer/trans artists or artists of color (or both!), especially since these comps have skewed heavily white and male, but not sure who would be down for that

for the record, i am not for doing a rock against trump-esque release. just seems silly...

I'd be down for a protest song compilation. Doesn't necessarily have to be rock against Trump, but I think it could touch on a lot of the themes that many of us are angry/concerned about right now.

I'm all about writing songs about how fucked the political landscape is on my own time as my own form of self-expression.

I'm not interested in a rock against trump comp.

It's more effective to actively be participating in the group protests that have been happening across the country, and to continually place a revealing spot light on the neo-Nazi Alt-Right population and expose them for the that they are.
