If you don't want to cover The Hotelier, then just wait for the next round. There's no way to make every person happy and I'm not going to cater to people who are unhappy with the choice because that's not fair to the people who are actually excited for this one.

I for one would not consider myself a fan of this band, but that's just because i really haven't ever listened to them. But I'm still looking forward to recording a cover for this! It'll be fun.

And the next compilation will either be Best of 2016 or Christmas. Whichever wins. If Christmas wins, then we will do Best of 2016 right after. So if you don't want to participate in THIS one, then start prepping for the next ones.

If you aren't happy with pick for the next comp, then sit it out and wait for the next one. Let's keep this thread positive and just have fun.

I'll fuck around with Southern Discomfort tomorrow and if it feels good I'll work on it some more. If it doesn't feel right I'll just keep working on my 2016 track.

I'll be sitting this out but has anyone ever considered trying for one of the compilations to be an entire album?

 

I've thought about doing that a couple times. But that takes a LOT of commitment from everyone who gets involved because if one person can't contribute to it, then it messes up the whole thing... We'd need a contract signed with blood from each member involved. But of course I'd be down to do it!

Alright, alright. Put me down for Southern Discomfort. I played around with it this evening and got the basics down... simple chord structure leaves lots of room to play around.

The raw, pop-punk-y sound is more my style than their Hotelier catalogue. @nothingsforeverdude always does more fragile, acoustic arrangements so I think the juxtaposition of our tracks will actually be really cool.

 

I totally forgot to fall in love with this band. Guess I'll give em a spin again

I wouldn't mind trying to work them together. But like, if someone actually wants it they can totally have first dibs.

 

I really like the idea of a Christmas compilation happening and then a best of 2016 being the first of 2017, as that makes most sense/ties in with publication and user "best of" lists.

Plus I'm just a sucker for the holidays so Christmas songs would be so nice haha. So maybe I'm biased, but that method makes sense in my brain too.
