Just finished listening a little bit ago! So many quality tracks on this thing. Might be too many for me to do a track by track review, but when I have some time later maybe I'll give it a shot. Great job everyone!

  10. there's so many great songs on this! you all did awesome. big props to all of you who did originals! i tried to do an original or two, but none of them sounded halloween-ish at all, so i didn't finish any. but all of yours sound so good!

solid turn out too! 25 tracks?! woooosh. i'm surprised/stoked that you all are still enjoying doing these.

Coming from you, that means a lot. I am in awe of your tracks. Your natural vibrato in your voice is so great and your production is so on point.

@Patterns in Traffic that was dope as hell and stands right up to the original. That AFS song and record are great. Guitar at the end was super cool.

@elemenohpe that Coheed cover is my favorite thing I've heard from you. Your covers are always fun but this one in particular sounds the best to me, on both a recording quality and performance level. Had fun jamming out to this one!

@nothingsforeverdude haven't ever been that into CEG but love this cover. Could probably just listen to you sing the phone book at this point though haha. So relaxing!

@Barcara when I saw you call this song out, I was kicking myself for not thinking of it first. You killed it though, and now I'm glad I got to hear someone else's take on the song. Guitars and synth were layered very nicely and your harmonies are on point. Very well done!

More to come! These were just a few ones I wanted to respond to pretty quickly :)

    gonna peep this tonight

  18. 1. @Patterns in Traffic - A Quick Little Flight (Armor For Sleep) - I was hoping someone was gonna do an AFS song. I even contemplated doing one from that album too. I like your version a lot. It's pretty true to the original, but obviously has your own creative "ness" to it too.

    2. @Wall Of Arms - My Body's A Zombie For You (Dead Man's Bones) - You got a spooky voice! I'm not familiar with the original version of this song, but I really like the 60's vibes going on in this.

    3. @Will P - Welcome To Hell - This is a great Halloween song. Sounds very hellish!

    4. @Jose - Forever Halloween (The Maine) - I like your voice a lot. It fits this style really well.

    5. bradsonemanband - Grim Grinning Ghosts (Disney's Haunted Mansion Ghosts) - This song was really fun to do! I went out late at night and snuck into a HUGE cemetery that's close to my apartment. I recorded this on my portable cassette recorder, which I had to prop up on a headstone in order to get it close enough to my mouth so the vocals would be picked up. It took me a few tries to get a complete take because I kept thinking I heard sounds. Turns out, there was a herd of deer right next to me, which scared the shit out of me when I saw how close they were, haha. Anyway, it was a blast recording this in the middle of a huge cemetery late at night. I've always wanted to record a song there so this was the perfect excuse to finally do it.

    6. @xkhiemster - Welcome To Lavender Town (Brand New/Junichi Masuda) - The recording quality of this really added something to it. It almost sounds like TV static is going on, and it's awesome.

    7. @therookielot - Gods and Monsters (Lana Del Rey) - I don't know this song, but I like your version a lot. Sounds very haunting. I like how distant it all sounds.

    8. Will P - Garden Of Shadows (Sarah Sanderson) - This is so good! What a great song to cover. I love the xylophone/marimba instrument going on, the twinkly synth, tremolo strings, and the faint choral voice sounds you used. It's like all of the ingredients to a classic spooky song.

    9. @InfiniteArms - Welcome To My Nightmare (Alice Cooper) - This sounds rad as an acoustic song! Very oldschool bluesy kind of vibes on this one, but with scary lyrics over the top of it.

    10. @Benjamin Lee - Pumpkin Song - Your style works really well with this theme. I'm glad you did a couple original tracks too! I'm jealous that you were able to write some. I tried, but it all sounded dumb... haha.

    11. @elemenohpe - Purity (Slipknot) - This is as Slipknot-y as I've ever gotten! This is definitely the heaviest song on this comp and it's awesome.

    12. @t_papaccio - Shed (Title Fight) - Great track! It makes me want to go back and listen to Title Fight. It's been awhile.

    13. @DashboardProfessional - All Hallow's Eve - Your music is awesome. I always love your contributions to these comps, and this is no exception. It was surprising to see such a long track from you. It's not always easy to keep people's attention for a 7 minute song, but you totally kept mine.

    14. Benjamin Lee - Spooky Scary Skeletons (Andrew Gold) - Andrew Gold is so underrated. I got into his music in the last year or two after hearing Dave Grohl praising a couple of his songs. So obviously I had to check him out. I hadn't heard this song before, but I'm sure you did it justice, if not more. This is spooky!

    15. @angel paste - Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater - Everything about this song is perfect! Your vocals are so creepy on it, in the best way, and the music is perfect for it. Such a rad song. Both of yours are my favorite ones on this compilation. You nailed the Halloween sound.

    16. @trevorshmevor - Hallow (Bump In The Night) - I always look forward to your songs! Another awesome one from you. It sounds very Title Fight ish.

    17. @nothingsforeverdude - Cold Spring (Cymbals Eating Guitars) - I know you did this one super last minute, but it still sounds so good! I could listen to your music forever though. You know this. Great job!

    18. @joey-wan kenobi - Private Eye (Alkaline Trio) - When you first announced that you were doing this song, I thought it was an interesting one to pick for a Halloween cover, but I shouldn't have ever doubted it. You made it sound like a Halloween song. It sounds so dark. It's awesome!

    19. @Barcara - Halloweenhead (Ryan Adams) - Awesome cover! I love the effects you put on the guitars, especially.

    20. elemenohpe - Three Evils (Coheed and Cambria) - I like the production on this one a lot. All the fuzz sounds way cool. Great song to cover for this!

    21. Benjamin Lee - Beauty and the Freak - You are the MVP on this compilation. 3 songs?! 2 originals?! I know you were doubting your mix on this song, but I think the levels actually sound just fine. Very cool song!

    22. therookielot - Girl In The White - The effects on your vocals sound awesome. Cool seeing you submit an original. I like this a lot!

    23. InfiniteArms - Stalker - You killed it on this! The piano, the vocal effects, the overall production of it, it's all so good! Creepy song.

    24. @Jdaniels - Halloween (The Gaslight Anthem) - I thought this was a great song to lead into the closing track of the compilation. This song just kinda wraps it all up nicely! Great cover!

    25. angel paste - Goon Music - This is the epitome of Halloween, to me. You nailed it. And the way the song just kind of dies slowly at the end, it only made sense to close the compilation with this song. You killed it. Literally, I guess, haha.

Wow... I was not happy with how that cover turned out. Honestly, I wasn't happy with either of my covers for this comp. I did each of them in one day and felt like their mixes were mediocre at best.

Thanks so much for the compliment though! Nice to know I can rush shit out and it's still alright.

Something I learned doing that Slipknot cover was TURN DOWN YOUR MICROPHONE when you're screaming in a bathroom. haha. It SOUNDS good to me but that's after dropping those vox tracks 30db... they look like one big block of sound. Glad I had an excuse to work some metal into a compilation finally ;-)

Thanks for the CoCa comments. I added all the fuzz and synth effects because I didn't like my clean singing. I had a lot of fun doing the "following you on the interstate" parts because I got to practice some more death-metal styled vocals... a gutteral low and that screech-y highs sounded good together. Plus reversing the high and dragging it out actually made it sound like the "monstar roar" that's in the original. I was pumped that sounded so close.

I still haven't gotten a chance to listen to the comp yet... been busy the past couple of days. Hope to get a listen or two in tomorrow.

I won't do a track by track review/feedback, but everyone did great. Thanks for the huge turn out, and thanks for @bradsonemanband for putting it all together.

I recorded my Alice Cooper cover in a rush, so I'm disappointed that it wasn't the quality to start the compilation, but I'm still very content with the result. I struggled with what to do at the beginning. My friend suggested using a muted drum kit behind me, and I tried it but I didn't like the way it sounded overall.

Some background to my original track, "Stalker"
This song I actually wrote based on the route from the train station to my house, I closed my eyes and just started singing into audacity to get all of these ideas and I just envisioned myself walking home at night, and then with the clowns around, I then imagined what it would be like to encounter one, or have one follow me home.
