Hold on — I’d be down for an NFG comp. I’m in and out of here from time to time but I could rip thru something. I always wanna not do an acoustic cover but my distaste for programming then outweighs my want to not do an acoustic jam. So, sign me up for acoustic NFG. Heh

What about a September mixtape (because I assume that's when it would come out)? Songs only from albums released in September of any year.

 

The Gaslight Anthem is my vote for a band comp. Between The '59 Sound 10-year and them being a pretty formative band for this site and all.

No Boys Allowed again would be a good one.

I'm a little hesitant to jump right into another comp again.

Maybe it's me projecting my own feelings, but it seems like there may be a bit of a burnout on these right now. We aren't getting as many contributors as we used to, we're having to extend deadlines because only one or two songs are submitted on time, etc. The compilations are hardly even reviewed/talked about after they are released. There isn't as much of a sense of community behind these like there was before, and that kinda bums me out.

I think we need new recruits in order to sustain these things and give this thread life again. But I'm unsure how to get more contributors. I've tried reaching out to the Self Promotion a few times, but I think very few (if any) have migrated this way.

Thoughts, comments, concerns, sandwiches?

 

I stopped checking the thread for a bit because I thought there was already a break happening. Maybe we could reach out to other places like band fan pages on facebook or something. Spacing things out might be a good idea too.

 

Yeah, a break happened a couple months ago while we all worked on our own EPs and/or took a nice vacation from doing covers for a bit.

If we reached out to FB users and such, like you suggested, we'd need them to sign up on Chorus first, which may end up flooding the site with new users, which I guess could be a good thing? haha. I don't really know. But that may be a fine option.

 

Then we get them to be supporters. All part of the @Jason Tate master plan. I'm sure there are a few people on reddit that aren't 100% terrible too haha.

 

I'd take you up on that if I would record separate tracks again. Past few times its been vocals and guitar at once.

 

I've been focusing what little music time I have on writing for a new EP with my old metalcore band. Between that and practically doubling my weekly work schedule, I will be taking an absence from these.

Again, this community especially probably doesn't want to do a cover comp for an known abuser.

 

Maybe we should have a random cover thread, we throw up any of our one offs and inspire each other, we end up reigniting the collaboration or we end up hearing some cool covers, either way, a win.

 

If you followed the news as much as you seem to trust it, you'd know developments surfaced that clarified the situation. Summary: He dated a girl who had a boyfriend, consensually. Said girl was coerced by a woman from Punk Talks to accuse Evan of mismanaging his fame and the implied power that has on the opposite sex. There are emails in black and white from the Punk Talks woman stating her intention to take down the band, despite reports the original girl not wanting to make public accusations of abuse. Evan is taking his time working on himself as a result of all this.

"Abuser" should be meant for predatory Jesse Lacey type filth, not this kind of thing IMO

 

All of the above isn't to be taken as FACT, just the most recent version of facts. Only they know what really happened with all of this - I could be wrong.
