It's lost in the ether somewhere I'm sure haha Cheers for updating! Hope everyone likes it. Just a one tack acoustic rendition recorded on my phone so nothing special.

Makes sense, just from the thumbnails I guess I got my answer. Seems like a cool place to shoot it!

  4. It's been kinda nice taking a break from participating in these for a little bit, haha. I wanted to do this one and the Linkin Park one, but I just wasn't feelin' it/it was stressing me out, so I just didn't do them, and I'm not too upset with myself, haha. :-)

This comp was great! So many great renditions, and there were definitely some songs that I didn't know right off the bat, which makes me realize I'm really not that big of a Brand New fan... haha. Don't shoot me!

I used to love when Out of Service did covers on these, we just don't have time with recording our full length right now. It was a ton of fun though and I miss participating.

  11. I was gonna do a super fast punk version of "Tautou" but it was like 20 seconds long and wasn't thaaaat cool, haha.

  12. JakeRabin

    I'm tired.

    Thanks for the feedback!

My equipment for drums are me playing a Yamaha DTX through a midi output.
Guitars vary between songs but the general usage is this:
    ESP Viper Custom
    Epiphone ES-339
    Blackstar Club 60
    Tube Screamer
    Off brand wah
    Line 6 Pod Farm effects

    Acoustic is an Ovation Classical.

Bass is usually a Squier Jazz recorded into an amp sim.

Vocals were until Mene, recorded with a Rock Band microphone. Mene was recorded with a Blue Snowball.

Logic X is the software I use.

@redwing91007 Your production is great man. Those guitars sound so good. I like that you can hear the jump each time that lead starts over too

@JakeRabin I was pretty sure this was great, then I heard "and even if her - even if her plane crashes tonight"... and I knew it was something special. Lots of passion man, great job

@manoverboard365 I said a little while back that The No Seatbelt Song was my least favourite song on YFW. If this were the version on the album, this would be my favourite on the album. This is better than Soco. S O C O. I love this so much and I'm playing this version for chicks from now on.

@Jesse West I love the sparsity of the chorus guided by that lead guitar. Some really cool choices here

@xkhiemster I will maintain from now on that the chords for this song sound better played in the wilderness

@Paul Beaumont I think you did a version of You Won't Know a few years and I like this more somber rendition as much as I did that one. This is the version I'll play on my guitar from now on

@JakeRabin WAHHH. I can barely tell this one apart from the Brand New version. I like your screams in the chorus better than Jesse's actually. Next time I feel like listening to Mene this is the one I'm going for

@hermanthehermit That lead guitar sounds beautiful, and your voice is great too. I really like the slight effects you put on it. Really really good

@therookielot That reverb is captivatingly creepy. It's like something off of Daisy except weirder. This is fascinating. I appreciate it

@Jdaniels Another great acoustic version of Mixtape. After @bradsonemanband's cover a few years back, that's 2 for 2 on this song. Whoever covers it on Vol 3 has some big shoes to fill

@JakeRabin The tambourine! I didn't even realize until you did both Jude Law and Mene! This one is great too. After listening to the other two, I was eager to hear you belting it in the verses too but you gave me all I wanted in the bridge. Are you in a band? You're killing it. (Also, as if I didn't already know this was great, the AUGH at the end sealed the deal.)

@redwing91007 That lead guitar in the verse sounds really nice. What a great come down after 70x7.

@ricklightning The mixing on the guitars sounds spot on to me. Perfect amount of dissonance. Is that a synth in the verse after the first chorus? Sounds great

@xkhiemster The background noise works for this one too. I would have liked to hear the other vocal tracks in the climax but the raw single take is a cool way to go

@therookielot Your covers sound very spontaneous and off the cuff, like they're happening only in that moment. It's cool

That's right! If you listen closely the same synth reappears when I'm doing the Tatuou interlude later on in the song. The synth is doing the melody from Handcuffs while at the same time I have a lead guitar mixed in that is playing a melody based on the guitar from Tatuou. :-)

It is actually the same vsti synth I used for most of the instrumentation in my cover of Burn in the Alkaline Trio comp.

    I'm tired.

Thanks for all of the kind words, I love your covers as well.

I'm not in a band, I was previously though. I used to be the drummer of a band called Dejected and the guitarist of a band called Shoobies.

I love hearing Can't Get It Out like this. Great job @Paul Beaumont

I've only played Sowing Season so far great job @redwing91007 and Mene this one really rips too, way to go @JakeRabin

Going to be playing all of this when I get a chance. Well done everyone. Enjoyed the last BN related one as well.

I've been so busy this week I haven't gotten a chance to listen. Judging by the comments it looks we this was a good one!

I just listened to your song again and the first thing I'm going to do when I get home is learn how to play your version. I already stole @bradsonemanband's version of Mixtape so might as well keep it up
