I just recorded a cover of Wide Awake by Katy Perry so I guess make that one of my songs or my third song, whatever. I can't seem to get either of the other songs to work out the way I thought they would, still trying though.

 

Might have jumped ahead of myself on this one. I didn't realize the deadline was so soon. I'm supposed to get a new laptop this week too.

Anyway, I'll at least get one out.

 

Curious question. What audio interfaces are you using when recording for the compilations?

Currently I got an Alesis IO4 that I'm going to upgrade; mainly because of problems with noisy signal while recording (constant background noise that I struggle with removing with EQ/compressor settings). Also I am really tired of ASIO4ALL and want an interface with good native ASIO drivers.

I just ordered a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8; the reason for me choosing that one and not a smaller Scarlett is because I need the four mic inputs for podcast recording. Anyone else here using Focusrite equipment?

 

Yep! I'm using a focusrite scarlett solo. I just got it. I used to use a digidesign mbox but when I updated my mac to el capitan it no longer was compatible. Think I'm liking the scarlett better.

 

I've actually been wanting to make a video or something showing how I record my music at home.

I run an M-Audio interface.

 

That would be really interesting to see. Do it!

 

I use the 2i2. One or my mic inputs went out shortly after I got the thing... Scarlett claimed that I must have plugged in or unplugged a mic when the phantom power was on. I didn't. They didn't seem to care and just passed the blame on me.

 

Well that sounded like a horrible customer experience and hope that I never get in a situation like that with anything I ever buy. :/

I haven't heard anything but good things about the 18i8 so I am really stoked to try it out.

 

Good luck. I love my 2i2 and would buy another one... I've read similar stories from others about Scarlett's customer support which is all I really wanted to share with you. Great product until it fucks up... then you're told it was your fault.

 

Unless next months tribute is something very compelling, I will probably sit out. Been working on some original music again (finally) and my mates recording gear is now free for me to use, so yeah. Hopefully now I can get my EP done.

 

Going to work on this this weekend finally.

 

Going to finish the vocals then mix and master my Camp Cope song. Have yet to even attempt the Chvrches song, hopefully I'll have time.

 

I need to get crackin' on my songs still!

 

Can I submit an mp3 cover I did of "Hit Me Baby One More Time"? I also did a short cover of T Swift's "We Are Never Getting Back Together".

I have a few video covers of Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" and Jann Arden's "Insensitive" and "Good Mother" but I'm not sure those would capture the sound well enough.

Haven't had the best luck meeting up with friends to record the Mitski songs. I might have to switch to Tegan and Sara and cover those on my own for this month.
