Now you're making me choose between Andrew McMahon and Paramore? Evil.

 

I hope Paramore wins. It would be nice to do a female fronted band finally, and the deadline for the love song comp is just too close.

At some point if bands fronted by women/POC/LGBT folks/etc. fail to get picked in these polls then I think we need to rethink how we approach deciding these comps before I'm comfortable continuing to participate in (at least) the band-themed ones.

When is the winner being called? All of those options are fine with me.

 

I think as a community people on here are generally good about inclusivity and stuff compared to other places online. The fact that we've done only white-male-led-band tributes so far is just as much a comment on the diversity of the scene itself that AP.net and now Chorus.fm has centered around as it is on our negligence towards picking more diverse artists and making that our goal. I had to take a step back when I realized the majority of bands I'm planning on covering this year fit this category. As a POC myself, I find it disheartening that the majority of Asian musicians I listen to are from Asia and that I have to actively seek out artists who look like me and sing in English. I'd give people the benefit of the doubt that when they're voting in these polls, they're probably just choosing who they want to cover the most and not actively trying to be uninclusive. That said, I would like to see a change here from now on, to at the very least be conscious of this going forward.

 

i know we try to pick bands that everyone can agree on for the most part. but if we did paramore, i'd even be more keen on that as we seldomly (or have we ever?) do female artist.

 

i was thinking about this earlier this week for whatever reason, we should do a female artist comp. where its really general but also could be very cool. maybe one time. i'd go crazy with the options considering my music taste is very dominated by female artist.

 

I would love if we could do a themed comp where we took money to donate to some kind of human rights organization at some point. Considering recent events, and how downhill the next 4 year is looking, I think it would be cool to do something. Even if we only end up with a small amount to donate.

 

I am pretty sure we suggested this once. I'd still love to do it.

 

From the looks of it, Paramore has half the votes. I'll call it as soon as there is a real clear winner. Keep voting.

Or we can make a new poll of just female artists including a mixtape option. I'm really down for anything, of course, so whatever you all wanna do, I'll do. I want everyone to be excited about whatever wins.

 

I voted for Paramore, but I could use Love Songs as an excuse to do Dashboard like I'd already planned. And I'm also planning on doing SoCo down the line.

 

I think Paramore will win.

 

I don't vote I just wait for the outcome. I probably won't record anything new till March anyway so if I luck out and already have a track cool if not I like listening to peoples interpretations. I don't do covers at shows so it's fun to throw some online.

 

i'd probably do "still into you" for either paramore or a love songs mixtape.

I honestly don't mind which one wins, I'd find something for either.
