So The Maze is all about the harmonies on record, but I thought it translated really well to the live show last night. I loved the heavier ending they did.
They do such a good job of building tension throughout the song. It builds just about as perfectly as it could have.
This song does have a lot of power when you have kids (and I'm sure even if you don't as some of you are saying). Especially when he sings from the POV of his daughter, it's just
"You lift that burden off of me" Always gets me. And the samples of talking running underneath... the way the pitch drops at the very end... great.
The Gold actually might be one of my favorites on the album (along with The Maze). I remember feeling so excited when it came out as a single.
I remember hearing the leak of the gold and trying so hard to decipher it all before it got taken down off SoundCloud.
Not sure what the consensus favorites are on this record but gold is my favorite. That chorus is proof the word soaring is overused in music.
For this reason alone I will always love this song, even if it's not one of my favorites on the album. It still speaks to the anticipation and promise of what this album could be, which turned out to be even more than I thought.
Everytime I listen to this record I'm remind just how good the production is on it. Not only is it the best Manchester record it's also the best sounding one too. So fitting
I was sort of a fan of MO before this album. I really liked METN. However when I heard this song before they released the album, it actually made me really excited to hear the rest of it.
