Don’t understand thinning out the talent pool more than it already is but I guess I’ll roll with it. I just feel like if we’re gonna make WRs more important then we should expand scoring so that role player type WRs are actually useful and not scoring 4.1, 5.9, etc and barely affecting the game. Because every team that doesn’t get super lucky with WRs staying healthy and performing as expected, will have to rely on those.

 

Like, 3 WRs AND flex makes sense in leagues that do full PPR and extra special teams points etc, that give consistent scoring to anyone who touches the ball regularly even if those aren’t necessarily high reward touches.

but not really in a league where you need at least 60 yards and a TD to be worth a damn. Just not enough guys to go around who do that more than 2-4 very random and hard to predict times a year

 

I feel like it compensates for the fact that there aren’t 24 worthy starting RBs in fantasy so someone with a bad second starting RB can maybe make it up by hitting on that third WR since there are a lot more startable WRs in the league

 

This is true too. Open to y’all’s perspectives as well, just explaining mine. I personally find fantasy a bit less fun when teams are having to start more unexciting players and throw more dart throws at players who are mostly situational sub-ins and have very little rhyme or reason to which games they’ll randomly be involved in more.

That feels more like the chaotic unpredictability betting on parlays you “feel good about”, and less like the “you have some semblance of control over your performance by doing research” that draws me to fantasy. Whereas when there’s enough talent that every team could feasibly have good starters in every slot as long as they stay healthy, it becomes way more competitive in that specific way. That is where I feel like our 12 team, 2WR/2RB/FLEX, 0.5 PPR situation is the perfect model for parity and actually being able to steer the ship.

but this league will be fun regardless if we vote for it I’ll play along, just voicing my dissent as the one NAY vote in court lol

 

I think I only voted yes because we’ve been doing the same thing for however long this league has been active and this slight change might make things interesting.

want to keep kicker though because it’s always funny when a kicker gets 20 points and someone loses because of it lol

 

For kickers I’ve made the same argument every year, it’s not a crapshoot and if you think critically it’s not hard to pick a kicker who’s consistently scoring decent points - even if it is hard to predict when they’ll have that 15-20 point game that actually helps you win, the teams who know how to find the kicker who is a sure bet to score at least 8-10 are not being HURT by the kicker position and are hedging their bets, which is a legit strategy.

I’ll even tell yall my strategy. Very good offensive teams that are in the red zone all the time, and very good defensive teams that often get good field position but stall in the red zone, are your two best bets situationally, and then from there you pick the kicker with the best “leg” cause even if they’re not the most accurate overall, you’ll still score more if they’re trusted to kick a lot of 50+ yarders, instead of that team being more prone to punt than kick a long one.

 

Boswell the goat. Good for like two 5 fg games a year.

if that team's offense cant do dick moving the ball, the kicker aint gonna score any points

I'm fine either way, but yeah

 

Exactly so don’t pick kickers from offenses that struggle to move the ball and defenses that don’t give them midfield field position very often

 

Sigh.

 

I just think changing things up every once in a while (I'd prefer every year tbh) keeps things fun/interesting. Also, I disagree adding a WR will thin the receiver pool a lot. Most big best ball contests have 3 WR + a flex and while it increases value of WRs, every team is walking out of drafts with 3 legit starters at WR because there's a lot of good WRs!

No on removing kickers
Yes on adding a 3rd WR in the starting lineup

Regardless of what we end up doing I support having an even number of rounds in the draft

Depends on my draft spot whether I follow my own advice lol, if my draft position has me miss all the good kickers because a round 15 pick was too useful to pass up I might go rogue and go on gut feeling with it lol
