saying you dislike stuff is fine, but in this environment specifically, make it constructive. make an argument against a game or for it's opponent. we are a small group of people, we know what games everyone hates, let's expand on it at least.

im also aware there will be plenty of throwaway matches initially. i don't expect people to give a tedtalk on why Bloodborne is beating Parappa the Rapper or anything.

 

Isn’t the whole point of this to discuss the results lol all we said is Golden Eye is kinda funny on there because it doesn’t hold up, not that someone is an asshole for putting it on his list lol

But I agree with the first part. I still think Golden Eye is funny because it’s even compared to other big games of its time it doesn’t hold up

 

Pong is actually pretty fucking good, as is Breakout

 

yes the point is to discuss the results and im not saying i think anything in here has gone against the spirit of this. and if i do feel that way im not gonna call it out, im not a moderator. but two people have already gotten frustrated regardless of the reasons and the thing literally hasn't started yet. again not saying that is or isn't anyone's fault but i am saying its 100 percent par for the course around here and id love if we can see this thing through. end of soapbox and i don't wanna comment on this stuff further i have dungeons and dragons to plan OKAY

GoldenEye was pretty gamechanging for console FPS games. It was huge. It doesn’t hold up but at the time it was a pretty important game.

 

Right I understand. I never argued that. I played a lot of it myself.

 

One minute people are making fun of me becuase of my music taste and the fact that I don't like *insert crusty old band from the 70/80s* the next minute I'm not allowed to say that I don't like a game. Which is it? Lol this site is exhausting what little patience I have left atm. I need a break again. Hopefully permanently this time.

I had a very good reason and I'm really glad I said it. The only person I feel bad for is @Shrek.

People can be negative and yet also constructive. The two aren't mutually exclusive. That's not what was happening.

I thought it would be fun to join this thread and discussion. I don't post in the video game thread because it's been a toxic place at times and I don't really play RPGs, but I thought "hey, this is something I can participate in!" I submitted my list, excited, but not expecting to see any of my favorites make the list. Then the only games that I liked that made the top 15 were ridiculed without any sort of constructive thought. It made me think--why the fuck did I even bother submitting my list? People are going to dismiss things that I like for their own benefit and amusement, instead of just having an honest and fun conversation about video games. I would have been happy to address why I put a game like Goldeneye on the list even though it is clearly very dated. But that possibility went right out the window.

 

How is saying that Golden Eye being on the list funny/whatever because it doesn’t hold up not constructive? What is constructive then? Going into detail about why it doesn’t hold up? Everybody knows why, just like everybody knows why it was important nevertheless. I’m not trying to be combative, I just sometimes don’t understand what it is people here actually want, because I really don’t think I was being harsh (except for my RDR2 comments but that’s just a meme by now).

 

This isn't specifically about your goldeneye comment, it was the general tone of the thread. I could quote specific posts that I found to be obnoxious, but I don't want to derail this any further. Please continue with your discussion. I'm sorry for side-tracking the thread.

GoldenEye is one of my favorite games ever. I still think protecting Natalya on the Control level on 007 difficulty is one of the most frustrating gaming experiences ever lol

Ok so the only games I've played on that list: GoldenEye, BotW, Pokemon Silver, Chrono Trigger.

It really highlights my pretty much exclusive Nintendo gaming experience. And the fact that between the GameCube and Switch, I owned no other console.

I really only started paying attention to games like two years ago, and even then only Nintendo news.

 

I'm down for trying to be as positive as possible while still discussing things if it makes people feel more comfortable. I really like the idea of the thread and want everyone who voted to take part. I usually go into these kinds of things thinking everyone's going to be shitting on stuff in good spirits but if some people aren't into that it's good to know.

 

Plus Bloodborne ranked really high!

I still need to beat it, someone just told me I don't have to beat the Byrgenwerth hunter i've been stuck on big time right now. So ima go back to it so @Cameron and @Anthony_ leave me tf alone.

 

i wouldn't get so caught up on the top seeds, 4th and 5th place are like billion-way ties that are super diverse. i am hoping the bracket creates some interesting first round stuff.
