Don't care for either single as much as the first two singles from their last album lol but alright cool Also the combination of the WWWY lineup being just Craig with some musicians on hire plus him going full steam on D.R.U.G.S. really shows how much that WWWY "reunion" being so entirely about the money lmao
I'm actually really enjoying these new songs. I'm not sure why it surprises me, I liked the last album too but then I feel like it kind of came and went for me. These feel like a step up though, especially Hunger Pangs. Still wish I could've seen more of the last album live, I feel like it would've helped it connect more.
Not bad. Not really feeling the itch to return to it right away aside from some of the catchier tracks, but a nice addition to the discog.
eh the instrumentals are lacking on this one like the 2nd album. I do think there was magic in the original lineup and I miss that sound so much.
I think the first half of this is great and then it falls off a bit. Overall I think the last 2 records are really underrated. The last one especially I thought was super fun, a great singalong record. But I agree the instrumentation has been mid. I just don’t find a lot of the guitarwork in modern metalcore/post hardcore very fun. It’s often just…ugly, for lack of a better word, and industrial. I miss the more melodic approach from the heyday.
Just to close the loop here, since Chiodos played today at WWWY I'm pretty confident D.R.U.G.S. and Chiodos are currently the same band. Craig Owens, Mitchell Rogers (https://www.instagram.com/shutupmitchell/) and Blake Hardman (https://www.instagram.com/mannyhardman) are in both bands. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to find more of either band's members, but no luck.
What did “Chiodos” play? fwiw I initially didn’t like this new DRUGS album nearly as much as the last, which I thought was fantastic for a more modern metalcore-esque album, but the new one has grown on me a good bit.
Saw them on Sunday and it was definitely apparent that he was lip syncing. Maybe not the whole time, but there were certain times that the mic was away from Craig’s face and the vocals were still playing haha. This band was a huge part of my introduction to the “scene” and I’ll forever love those first two albums so I still thoroughly enjoyed being there. I just wish the “reunion” was handled in a different way. Supposedly we are getting a tour next year, but with Craig being the only remaining original member, it’s kinda odd.
Holy shit. I knew I captured something during Chiodos’ set but I didn’t check it until now… definitive lip syncing proof, drops the mic and the vocal track plays and it sounds the exact same as when he is “singing” https://youtube.com/shorts/o8qifW5WkwY?si=dLq6H9sw3r-QyEmO
I know WWWY Fest's whole purpose is to be a nostalgic cashgrab but this Chiodos has to be the most blatant example of it surely
Yeah you can't get much more cash grab than a show with your current band, pretending to be your former band, all while lip syncing
Honestly I’ve been thinking for a while that he’s been REALLY blatantly nostalgia pandering since his solo career didn’t take off. Both the DRUGS and Chiodos “reunions” having no other original members just rubs me the wrong way and feels disrespectful to the other members, like he believes no one will care about them as long as he’s in the front. And sadly he’s being proven right.
He’s not pandering, he’s grifting. And people either aren’t smart enough to realize it or they just don’t want to
